GOD GIVES! Sermon Notes 8th Sunday after Pentecost July 30, 2017 Deuteronomy 7:6-9; Romans 8:28-39; Matthew 13:44-52 Introduction - Is it true God that will graciously give us all good things? Yes, He will! He gives good things to individuals and to congregations, to all who trust in Him! I. He gives all good things to those who love Him. “We know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” Rm 8:28 II. The first good thing God gives to us is faith itself, something that we could never do for ourselves! “For those whom He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, in order that He might be the firstborn among many brothers. And those whom He predestined He also called, and those whom He called He also justified, and those whom He justified He also glorified.” Rm 8:29-30 As he said to the Israelites about His bringing them to the faith, “You are a people holy to the LORd your God. The LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for His treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth… it is because the LORD loves you and is keeping the oath that He swore to your fathers…” Dt. 7:6, 8a “And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked…” Ep 2:1 III. He gives us all good things because He has chosen to be for us! “Again, the Kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls, who on finding one pearl of great value, went and sold all that He had and bought it. ” Mt. 13:45

“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He Who did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, how will He not also with Him graciously give us all things?” Rm 8:31-32 “Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the One Who died—more than that, Who was raised—Who is at the right hand of God, Who indeed is interceding for us.” Rm 8:34 IV. Our Great God gives to us because He loves us and nothing can stop His love, nothing can separate us from it! “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?” Rm 8:35 V. Thanks to our Great God, thanks to His love “We (those of us who repent our sins and trust in Him) are more than conquerers!” With His love we conquer! The future holds no fear for us. Only a great adventure lies in front of us! That adventure awaits me and it awaits you and hardship, which is ever present, is but a stepping stone to our glorious future in Him. “As it is written,’For your sake we are being killed all day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered’…No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him Who loved us For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Rm 8:36-39 Conclusion - Yes, God gave and continues to give us all good things! Jesus is the proof! Repent of your unbelief and believe! Receive His gifts today and always! Amen! TO YOU ALONE, O RISEN SAVIOR, BE ALL PRAISE, HONOR AND GLORY, NOW AND FOREVER, AMEN!
