warm up (15 mins) Warm up - Relay races Organization: - two lines on either side of goal (either side of cones of goal not available) - lines should be no longer than 4 players deep (three is ideal number) - if need more than two lines that is okay for warm up Breakdown: - Aim of the drill is to raise the players heart rate and create a competitive environment before the ball is introduced. Excersices to b e completed in warm up (not a relay yet): 1. first player in the line will zig zag through cones and return to line. 2. shuffle side to side through cones ( 2-3 times) 3. shuffle backward through cones (2-3 times) Repeat excersices ab ove as relay races b etween groups: (add ones b elow once ab ove are completed) 4. sprint through cones and return and tag team, once teammate tag next player goes, continue sequence unitl all players in line have gone twice. 5. Back peddle through cones, follow same sequence as above. Coaching Points: - Concentrate on maximum effort
small sided activity (15 mins) Small sided activity - Shooting after a sprint Organization: - 2 groups of 4 or 5 (adjust to fit numbers at your session) - collectionof balls at each group - 2 goals, 1 at either end of grid - 1 set of 3 cones set up in triangle formation - Distance from goal depends on ability level of group Breakdown: Aim of this drill is to improve the player's shooting when fatigue sets in. The player has to pass the ball then sprint and shoot. - Player A starts with the ball - Player B has to sprint around the right yellow cone (1) - Player A now passes to B (2), B shoots at goal (3) - Now B runs to join the end of line A - Now the 2nd B player gets a ball while the 2nd A player sprints around the left yellow cone - B then passes to A & A shoots before joining end of B line. - Sequence continues in this manner for 5 minutes Coaching Points: - Concentrate on hitting the target when legs get tired - 1st time shots - strike through the ball - keep head over the ball
