Jamielynn worshiped at Heritage regularly during her years at V.U. She will be with us next Sunday presenting her preparations and work in Dominican Republic. To all usher teams: Beginning in September 2016 we will only have 3 acolytes (last year confirmands who have agreed to continue to acolyte) available for lighting the altar candles. This will mean the usher team on duty will need to light the Altar candles on the 4th and 5th Sundays of the month. Also, if the acolyte is not available for lighting the candles. If you have any questions you can talk to any Elder. This year's Walk for Life on behalf of the Women's Center of Northwest Indiana is just a few days away. If you would like to support us as we walk next Saturday, Sept. 17, please see us today after the service. Scott & Monica Schafer There's more to life than daily task lists and repetitive chores. There has to be . . . right? The Moms Bible Study group will begin a new study called "God is in the Laundry Room". Inspired by the words of Jeremiah 29:13, God Is in the Laundry Room is a reminder that when we seek the Lord with our whole heart, we find Him everywhere . . . even in the laundry room. Beginning Tuesday, September 27 this group meets at Panera Bread in Valparaiso on the last Tuesday of the month at 6:30 PM. Please contact Holly Plew at
[email protected] or (219)548-9385 if you are interested in joining the group. September Food Pantry items go to Westchester (Chesterton) Food Pantry. They are in need of cans of pork & beans, canned fruit and canned chili beans. Thanks to all the Thrivent Financial members who directed Choice Dollars to Heritage. Thank you for all the prayers and cards over the past 5 months. Carol Skaggs. Attendance

“FELLOWSHIP” GROUP-Join us for an organizational meeting as we discuss starting a “Fellowship” group. We would meet once a month & have potlucks, play games, go out to plays etc. We welcome any input you may have. Since this is in the planning stage our first meeting will consist of a carry-in potluck next Sunday, September 18 at noon. Any questions contact Sue Connors, Rona Edquist or Connie Bailey. A sign-up sheet is located in the parish hall.
September is a great time for end of summer and back to school sales. It is also a great time to pick up items for our Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes. Children ages 2-14 are earmarked as the recipients of this yearly project sponsored by Samaritan's Purse International Relief. Toys (cars, stuffed animals, puzzles), hygiene items (toothbrush/paste, bar soap, combs), and school supplies (crayons, pencils, notebooks) are typical items that can fit inside a shoebox. Please, do not include liquids, glass or toys that are war related. Heritage's collection date will be in late October. See Gayle Sandquist for further details.
