Sewing sharp corners and right angles can be tricky! Follow the instructions in this How To, especially if you are sewing something with Pointed Yoke (like the Susan blouse) or v-necklines! Step 1
Cut out your pieces. For this tutorial, I've given each piece a #. Piece #1- The L-shaped piece represents a usually larger piece. Piece #2- the smaller square, represents the pointed corner inset to be inserted into the larger piece. Step 2
2S Mark the corner point on each piece with tailors chalk. Step 3
Matching corner points, place piece #2 over piece # 1, with right sides facing, as illustrated above. Step 4
3S Sew on the stitchline to the corner mark. Step 5
Make a clip in the seam allowance into the corner on Piece #1. Step 6
With the needle down and the presser foot lifted, pivot the fabric around so that you can start sewing from the corner mark. Sew along the rest of the stitchline. Step 7
4S Press flat, pressing out any tucks if necessary, pushing seam allowance towards piece #1. You can also trim the allowance. Now you've got a nice, smooth corner.
