Just Couch It! Couching, the process of adding a yarn to a fabric surface, is a great way to add texture, color and dimension to any project at any time. Learn to create couched flat braid, raised twisted cords, corded hemstitching, free-motion couching and the feet to make it all happen. A variety of yarn sizes paired with the appropriate foot can work wonders for just the right amount of embellishment.

Sylvia met with Janna, owner and inventor of the BLOC-LOC rulers at Road to California in January. Janna was so excited about our starting a BLOC LOC of the Month Club that she developed a special sampler class just for us. So now you can either make the sample (see blocks 1 and 2 below and the whole quilt on the right), or use one of the patterns we have on the wall. No need to wait for another series to begin - in this class you can start anytime!
Let’s be creative together SEW Hut 4226 Balboa Avenue, San Diego, CA 858-273-1377

CLASSES CLUBS CAFES LET’S QUILT & DINE Put yourself in this picture: You feel like getting out your latest project, doing the final piecing so you can start on the quilting. You sit down at your machine and the phone rings. The dryer goes off. Then the UPS man is at your door. It’s lunch time. Sit down again only to have to go chase after the dog, wash the lunch dishes and answer the phone again. Next thing you know it’s dinner time and you haven’t sewn a stitch! Instead, come to LET’S QUILT and DINE where pizza is served. Expert help is available from design decisions, color choices, binding techniques, to whatever else you’re working on. And don’t forget your snacks and spill-proof cup! TAKE THE QUITTING OUT OF QUILTING! BERNINA STITCH REGULATOR
How does the BSR work?
With the aid of technology, the BSR system reads (similar to a wireless mouse) the surface of the fabric under the presser foot. A sensor transfers information to the sewing machine as the material is moved. The sewing machine calculates the necessary sewing speed in order to sew consistent stitches according to the set stitch length.. A slower needle movement and motor speed is required if the material is moved slowly. A faster needle movement and motor speed is needed for faster fabric movement. The BSR, in tandem with the sewing machine, automatically adjusts to the sewer’s speed for even and consistent stitching. In this class we will share tips and tricks to successful free motion stitching. Experience your BERNINA Stitch Regulator hands on! We will also discuss the use of a variety of different threads and you will learn how to adjust tensions accordingly! SEW Hut 4226 Balboa Avenue, San Diego, CA 858-273-1377
