Sew Together Bag Instructor: Cynthy Kram Fabric requirements: (I have listed the requirements as stipulated by the pattern BUT I use 6 to 7- ¼ yards or fat quarters of coordinated fabrics instead, exterior fabric must be a fat quarter or 1/3 yard to get the width you need.) Exterior fabric: 1 fat quarter (can be directional fabric, will show you how to make it work) Lining fabric: ½ yard Pocket lining: 1/3 yard Binding fabric: 1 fat quarter ¾ yard of fusible Light weight interfacing (I used Shape-Flex) 1 – 18” x 22” of fusible batting 1 – 18” zipper 3 – 9” zipper Pattern: Sew Together Bag by Sew Demented Sewing machine in good working condition, ¼” quilting foot and zipper foot. Basic sewing supplies (pins, seam ripper, etc) Matching thread for top stitching (for binding and lining fabrics) Rotary cutter and mat. Rulers – 12 ½” square comes in handy plus a 6” x 9” or equivalent. Pre-cutting directions: Exterior fabric: cut 1 – 13 ½” x 9 ¾”, if your fabric is directional bring to class and I will show you how to cut it out. Lining fabric: cut 4 – 8 ¾” x 9 ¾” pieces. They do not need to be all from the same fabric, I like to use 2 different fabrics. Pocket lining: cut 6 – 4” x 9 ¾” pieces Side Panels: cut 4 using the template enclosed in pattern. I like to use 2 different fabrics, one for the inside of the bag and another for the outside but you don’t have to. Binding fabric: cut 2 – 2 ¼” x 15” and 2 – 2 ¼” x 20”, bring remaining fabric to class – there is one finial cut that will be done in class.
