Sewing Tailoring Club Learning to sew with all the secrets and detailing of high fashion tailoring Project # 5: we will cover Dress fitting and sewing procedures  Sewing techniques for different sections of the dress  Steps to sew efficiently a dress  Collar, sleeves, fitting  Invisible Zipper  Hemming different types and styles  Hem by regular sewing machine using the appropriate foot.  Bias from the same dress fabric (not stretchy)

Supplies:   

Serger Machine 3 or 4 threads (up and running, clean and serviced, with new needles) Sewing machine straight stiches (up and running, clean and serviced, with new needles) Sewing machine feet:  Regular straight stiches foot serger  Zipper invisible foot  Zipper slider foot  Roll Hem foot for straight stich sewing machine.  Notions  Measuring tape only (no rulers to measure curves)  Tailor chalk; white or blue  Box of pins; we are going to need a lot of them for fittings, please bring a new box  Hand sewing needles; minimum 4  Basting thread (white cone of cotton thread)  Thimble if you want  Fabric scissors  Paper scissors  Thread trimmers  Pattern paper; 1 roll of 10 yard for the entire year  Seam ripper  Threads matching the color of your fabric  Wash away Wonder Tape  Wonder Clips small  Fray check  Sewer’s aid  Kwik Sew K4154 misses K3710 plus size  Clear elastic 1 yd. (approximately)  Invisible zipper 22” if it is needed  Invisible thread clear white  Fabric  ½ yard of any fabric to learn different sewing applications  ½ yd. interfacing iron on Note: Bring your dress cut and put together with basting stiches (by hand or machine) ready to do a fitting and sew With the exception of the sleeves, collar, cuffs, pockets (We are not designing a style, cutting patterns or fabric in class) Teacher will provide handouts when it is need it.
