Sharon Center School 80 Hilltop Road Sharon, CT 06069 June 12, 2017 Dear Parent, Students who read over the summer beat the summer slide. The summer slide happens when many children, especially struggling readers, forget some of what they’ve learned or slip out of practice during the summer months. Please encourage your child to read or read aloud to your child. Enclosed is a Sharon Center School suggested summer reading list and a journal to keep track of the books read. We would like to have 100% participation from our students.

All students who keep track of the books they read or listened to should return their summer reading journals to the school library in September. They will be given:  

A 20% discount card for books at Oblong Books in Millerton A free ice cream coupon from Fudgy’s Ice Cream Store in Amenia

If your child loses the journal or the reading list, you may go to our school website www.sharoncenterschool.org and download a copy.
