Sheila Flint Tree specialist & urban forester

Sheila is a graduate of Guelph University with a diploma in Park Horticulture. She has recently retired from Strathcona County, Recreation, Parks & Culture as the urban forester and horticulturalist after 31 years of service. Sheila was only retired for one month and was hired back with Transportation & Agriculture Services to design an arboretum, orchard, demonstration gardens and community gardens at Bremner House, which is an historic property in rural Strathcona County. Sheila has served as president of the International Society of Arboriculture, Prairie Chapter for 12 years. She is president of the Alberta Naturalization Network as well as the founding member of the Strathcona County Garden Club. Sheila also established the first community gardens in her area, which have grown from 23 plots to over 200! Sheila is also an advisor to Tree Canada. Sheila was the first Canadian to receive an Arbor Day Award from the National Arbor Day foundation in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Sheila is an ISA Certified Arborist and a Journeyman Landscape Gardener. Her passions have always revolved around trees, gardening and instilling the love of nature in young and old.
