INTERNSHIP/PRACTICUM OPPORTUNITY – SHENANDOAH VALLEY UNITED About Shenandoah Valley United Shenandoah Valley United (SVU) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that exists to promote and enhance the game of soccer for the youth of the Central Shenandoah Valley and to encourage the healthy development of these players. SVU offers all levels of play from the recreational player who is out to enjoy the game to the premier player who is looking to play at the highest competitive levels.
The Opportunity SVU is seeking interns/practicum students to assist with the day-to-day operations of the club. The intern/practicum student will learn how youth sports programs operate by collaborating with SVU staff and experiencing as many aspects of operations as possible. Duties can vary depending on the interests of the intern/practicum student as well as the needs of the organization. The intern/practicum student may work in areas including but not limited to financial aid and payment processing, sponsorship, marketing, social media, communications, event management, and coaching. The internship is unpaid but may be used to earn college credit.
Primary Duties of the Position
Assist SVU staff with event preparation, logistics, and event supervision. Communicate with families over the phone, via email, and in person. Assist families with registration for SVU programs. Other duties as assigned.
Characteristics
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to organize work effectively and work on multiple tasks simultaneously. Positive attitude. Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team. Dependable with a strong work ethic. Interest in the sport of soccer preferred.
