SHIP EQUIP ESTABLISHES NEW NETWORK OPERATIONS CENTERS (NOCs) IN HOUSTON AND SINGAPORE, PROVIDING GLOBAL MARITIME CLIENTS WITH HIGHEST LEVEL OF SERVICE AND SUPPORT
New Regional Facilities Help Ship Equip Better Meet Customer Needs, Combining Local Knowledge and Expertise With Worldwide Presence (December 1, 2010) — Ship Equip, the world’s fastest growing provider of “always‐on” broadband communications for the maritime industry, today announced the opening of two new Network Operations Center (NOC) facilities strategically located in Houston and Singapore. These two new facilities will support Ship Equip’s primary NOC in Alesund, Norway. More importantly, they will provide superior 24/7 network monitoring and management for the many vessels worldwide that depend on the company’s proven VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) technology for high‐speed ship/shore communications at sea. More than 800 vessels including Oil/Gas Offshore Support Vessels (OSVs), tankers, freighters and commercial fishing boats currently utilize the company’s SEVSAT (Ship Equip VSAT) system for their email, Internet and voice communications needs, with another 200+ systems currently on order. When TVRO (Television Receive Only) satellite solutions are added, Ship Equip has 2,500 systems in operation around the world. Ship Equip has been working on this expansion for several months to meet growing demand and rapidly increasing bandwidth usage by ships at sea in today’s communications‐driven world. “Our company motto is ‘Seven Seas, One Communication Provider’, and this expansion demonstrates how committed we are to meet the growing needs of our global customer base,” said Ship Equip Chief Executive Officer Ivar Nesset. “We’ve invested in the facilities, technology and expertise to ensure optimal communications experiences for our clients and the highest possible level of service and support in all areas of the world,” added Mr. Nesset. These two new NOC facilities utilize the same state‐of‐the‐art technology and provide the same network management capabilities as Ship‐Equip’s primary NOC in Norway, and will provide technical backup to the main NOC. With available bases in three strategically selected locations, Ship Equip’s highly trained staff can monitor and manage communications and bandwidth usage to ensure its customers receive fast, reliable broadband service. ‐more‐
