ImageWall™ Assembly Guide

General Installation Guidelines • Read all instructions before starting the installation process. • Installers are advised to wear gloves when handling metal. Safety precautions should be taken when installing pieces that require the installer being off level ground. • We do not specify a particular torque for fasteners, but each bolt should be “Snug Tight” to ensure that the connections are fully seated and will not loosen due to vibration.

3

“The 2004 RCSC Specification defines a snug-tightened joint as a joint in which the bolts have been installed in accordance with Section 8.1.” Note that no specific level of installed tension is required to achieve this condition, which is commonly attained after a few impacts of an impact wrench or the full effort of an ironworker with an ordinary spud wrench. • Before assembling the ImageWall it is advisable to layout all of the pieces, checking that all of the parts are present. Layout the pieces in order to have a complete understanding of the components final locations. The ImageWall frame should be assembled on a level surface, and panels should be attached from left to right if possible.

Figure 10.1

• Begin ImageWall assembly by attaching the Z-Clips (Component B) to the structure. Use the storey pole (Tool K) to position the Z-Clips at the correct spacing, as shown in Figure 10.1. • Check for level frequently during the installation process.

Figure 10.4

• The Z-Clips are designed to allow for ease in marking position and adjusting horizontal position, as shown in Figures 10.2 - 10.4. • The installer is responsible for providing the fasteners for attaching the Z-Clips to the structure. FASTENERS FOR CONNECTING IMAGEWALL TO THE STRUCTURE ARE NOT INCLUDED FROM ZAHNER. 9

• Next, assembling your ImageWall system by first laying out the ImageWall frame, these include Components C, D, E, F, and G; as shown in Figure 11.1. • Each of the finished fasteners and components will create a flush connection, as shown in Figure 11.2. This is designed to allow for ease in attaching the finished frame assembly to the mounting surface in later steps. • All of the connections will be made using the Stainless Steel Hex Head Cap Screw (Fastener H). The screw will be placed through the pre-drilled holes in Components C, D, and E; securing into the aluminum channel of Components G and F; as shown in Figures 12.1 - 12.6. Figure 11.2

• When assembling the frame, it is easiest to assemble the outside perimeter of the frame first. Infilling the central members once the perimeter members are fully secured to each other.

Using the Storey Pole • Use of the Storey Pole (Tool K) is necessary to properly align the central horizontal member of the ImageWall frame (Component D). Proper alignment is crucial when hanging the ImageWall frame. • When aligning Component D use the included storey pole (Tool K) by aligning the notches in the storey pole with the upper-most and lowest horizontal members (Components C and E), as seen in Figure 13.1. Then align the central member (Component D) with the central notch of the storey pole, as seen in Figure 8.1. 13

Figure 13.1

Note that Component D may not be required or subsequently shipped with your ImageWall depending on the height and weight requirements of the specific ImageWall assembly. In which scenario the Storey Pole will only be necessary to use when installing the Z-Clips on the substrate for frame mounting.

• Once the perimeter of the frame is assembled, begin installing the central vertical members (Component G). Allign the vertical members with the pre-engineered holes in the horizontal members. Attach the central vertical members to the horizontal members using the included Tek Screws (Fastener H).

• Install the fully assembled ImageWall frame to the wall by rotating the fully assembled frame from the ground, as shown in Figure 15.1. The horizontal supports (Component C,D,E) are engineered to fit over the z-clips (Component B), locking the frame into place, as shown in Figure 15.2.

• Once the frame is securely attached to the wall, install the drop-lock ZIRA panels. The panels should be installed from left to right, as shown in Figure 16.1.

• To install the drop-lock panels (Component A), first allign all lock tabs with their associated slots in the assemblies. Making sure that all tabs are fully within the slot, Figure 16.2. Secondly, allow the panels to slide down in the slot; gravity locking the tabs in place, Figure 16.3.
