Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. Commemorates World AIDS Day 2011

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. and various community organizations across the United States joined together to commemorate World AIDS Day on December 1st. Several chapters across the country partnered with local churches, community agencies, health departments, as well as other Greek-letter organizations to provide HIV/AIDS education and awareness to hundreds of members of the community. Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. is the only African American sorority to be named a partner of the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention Act Against AIDS Leadership Initiative (AAALI) and has been awarded more than $200,000 in funding to focus on educating communities hardest hit by HIV. AAALI was launched by the CDC in 2009 to bring together and provide funding for the nation's leading black organizations to intensify HIV prevention among African Americans.
