N THIS COURSE we will be exploring
many of the traditional Japanese ways of working with indigo, including ricepaste resist, clamp resist and string resist. We will be using indigo as a vat dye and as a dye painted directly on our natural fibers. So much to explore—so many nuances! No previous experience required.
INDIGO IS LOVED throughout the world. Something about its subtle shades and cool complexity tugs at the heartstrings of humanity.
$325 plus a materials fee to the instructor of $75. Includes everything you’ll need for the class along with a DVD to take home with all relevant information. We will also be hosting a trunk show of John Marshall’s hand-dyed, hand-stenciled, original designed clothes and cloths which will be for sale from September 17 through September 30. Quilters and other fiber artists will find unique treasures to work with!
