David Brower @PrincipalBrower David Brower is principal of Decatur High school in Federal Way, and has served as a principal, administrator, and teacher in both middle and high school. Before working in education he worked as a marketer and IT specialist. He is a selfprofessed technophile and believes that technology is an indispensable tool for learning, teaching, and professional development.
Michael Farmer @Farmer1701 Michael Farmer has been in education for 18 years, he began as a middle school science and history teacher, he later served as building administrator, started Tacoma's online high school Tacoma Virtual Learning, and became the Director of Instructional Technology in 2011. Michael has been actively involved in leading the integration and embedding of technology as a teacher and administrator. Michael's goal is to move technology to a place where it's use is no longer an event but instead a tool used in the day to day work of students, teachers, leaders, and community members to help people do their work and to help students learn.
Hannah L. Gbenro @HannahGbenro Hannah is a doctoral student at Seattle University earning her doctorate in educational leadership with dual specializations in educational administration and business. As part of her doctoral program, Hannah earned her principal credential in 2012 and she now works as a dean at Olympic View Elementary School. She is experienced in site & district leadership, teaching, curriculum, and professional development. Hannah is a recognized ASCD Emerging Leader (2011) and has been honored for teaching, instructional technology, and program development.
JB Fitzpatrick @JBFitzpatrick JB has been involved in educational leadership for over 25 years as a teacher, mentor, trainer, and administrator. For Peninsula School District, JB is responsible for the vision, strategic planning and for educational technology, operations and telecommunication in district. JB has developed models for integrating web applications, cloud-based services, social media and mobile devices. These strategies and techniques go beyond the simple implementation but push the envelope to allow staff and students to not only bring their own devices (BYOD) but effectively use them for learning.
Charles Leitch Charles Leitch is an attorney from Seattle who represents public entities. He provides guidance and trainings nationally on bullying prevention and response, technology and data protection, and social media supervision, including policy development. He currently serves on the Attorney General Office’s Youth Internet Safety Task Force, Ikeepsafe.org, and Generation Safe in Washington, D.C. Mr. Leitch was recently a keynote speaker for the Department of Education/Supreme Court of the Territory of Guam, the National Cybersafety and Girl Bullying Conferences, and the Colorado Schools District’s Self Insurance Pool. He is a
graduate of Whitman College and Willamette University College of Law and is a Government Certified Information Privacy Professional with the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Mr. Leitch is a member of the attorney panel with Washington Schools Risk Management Pool (WSRMP). The WSRMP is the property and liability insurer for over seventy-five school districts/ESD’s in the state of Washington, of which LWSD is a member. As a member of the WSRMP attorney panel, Mr. Leitch has represented LWSD on several liability cases and investigations, including some involving social media and cyber liability.
Sara Niegowski @SaraNiegowski Sara started her career as a print journalist and, luckily, tripped into the world of education when she was assigned the schools beat for several Seattle Times' eastside newspapers. She has worked as the Executive Director of Communications for the Issaquah School District and now the Tukwila School District for about eight years. She has her graduate degree in Digital Media Communication and strongly believes in the power of social media to empower and connect people in the education world.
Shelby Reynolds @ShelbyReynolds Shelby is the Manager for Instructional Technology and Library Services for the Northshore School District in Bothell, WA. In her role, Shelby is responsible for oversight of Northshore's technology professional development program and the planning and implementation of instructional presentation systems, web services, and computing resources. Shelby has served on several statewide committees, including a task force to implement Online Learning initiatives for the state of Washington. Shelby also oversees the Library, Information, and Technology program for Northshore supporting Teacher-Librarians in their work to empower learners of all ages to be 21st century citizens.
