shell = 4 tr in indicated ch (2nd ch of ch-3 space of next V-st).
GAUGE In shell pattern, 7 shells and 14 rows = 5"/12.5cm. Gauge is not critical for this project.
INSTRUCTIONS ssc: Shallow single crochet—Insert hook in body of indicated sc (under the top horizontal loops and between the vertical strands), yarn over and draw up a loop, yarn over and draw through both loops on hook. NOTES 1. Blanket is worked back and forth in rows, changing color at the end of every other row. 2. To change color, work last stitch of old color to last yarn over. Yarn over with new color and draw through all loops on hook to complete stitch. Proceed with new color. Do not fasten off old color, carry colors not in use up side of piece until next needed. Take care to hide carried strands when working trim. BLANKET With A, ch 125. Row 1: Shell in 2nd ch from hook, sk next 2 ch, *shell in next ch, sk next 2 ch; repeat from * to last ch, sc in last ch, turn—41 shells. Row 2: Ch 1, shell in first sc, sk next 2 dc, *shell in next sc, sk next 2 dc; repeat from * to last sc, sc in last sc; change to B in last st, turn. Rows 3 and 4: With B, repeat Row 2 twice; do not change color at end of Row 3, change to C in last st of Row 4. Rows 5 and 6: With C, repeat Row 2 twice; do not change color at end of Row 5, change to A in last st of Row 6. Row 7: With A, repeat Row 2; do not change color at the end of this row. Rows 8–103: Repeat Rows 2–7 sixteen more times. Fasten off. FINISHING Trim Join C with sl st anywhere in edge of blanket. Round 1: Ch 1, sc evenly spaced around entire outer edge of blanket, working 3 sc in each corner; join with sl st in first sc. Round 2: Ch 1, ssc in each st around, working 3 ssc in center sc of each 3-sc corner; join with sl st in first st. Fasten off. Using yarn needle, weave in all ends. Block lightly, if desired.
