Soil Probe Checkout Form 232 Plaza Road, Kingston, NY 12401 845-340-3990 ulster.cce.cornell.edu Soil testing probes are available to borrow from our office for quick and thorough sampling, to recover shallow soil samples into a slotted probe body in one simple step. Fee: $5.00 (cash or check; cash preferred) for use of probe for 2 weeks, plus an $80 deposit (cash or check payable to CCEUC) which is returned when the probe is returned to our office, and if probe is not returned after 2 weeks, we will process the deposit. About the probe: AMS, Inc.’s “Regular Step Soil Probe” is an easy way to recover shallow samples into a slotted probe body; includes built-in step allowing for additional pressure to drive the sampler body into the ground
Nickel-plated, rust-resistant step probe, 10" comfortably gripped cross handle; made of heavy-wall type 4130 chrome molybdenum steel with hardened tips. Sampler is 7/8" OD x 5/8" ID, with a 12" slot.

SOIL PROBE CHECKOUT FORM - COPY FOR BORROWER The Soil Probe you have borrowed from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County must be returned within 2 weeks of the date borrowed, and if not, the $80 deposit will be processed, and you own the probe. Push and/or twist probe into soil using the attached Cross Handle and the built-in step. 2. Recover sample by twisting and pulling up on the Cross Handle. 3.
