Making connections, shaping the future and doing deals are the results of IFB 2016 which took place from June 13- July 1st in Liverpool, UK. IFB 2016 was centered at Exhibition Centre Liverpool, a brand new state-of-the-art conference complex on the city’s world famous waterfront. IFB2016 included up to 75 events, including the Wi-Fi Global Congress that covered all major sectors such as creative, digital, and manufacturing. The Guiding Principles are the outcome of six months of intensive discussions held in the G20’s newly established Trade and Investment Group, which aims to enhance global trade and investment policy cooperation, and constitute a priority deliverable for the 2016 G20 Summit. The fourteenth session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD 14) recently took place in Nairobi, Kenya (17 to 22 July). Participants included Heads of State and Government, ministers and other prominent players from the business world, civil society and academia to tackle global trade and economic development issues. The quadrennial Conference was yet another unique opportunity for delivering on the post-2015 development agenda. The theme was “From Decisions to Actions” and featured ministerial debates, high-level round tables, thematic events, a World Investment Forum, a Global Commodities Forum, a Youth Forum and a Civil Society Forum, among other events. Global Attain Advancement attended the 2016 UN Global Compact Leaders’ Summit 2016 which took place (22-23 June 2016, New York) at the United Nations General Assembly and JW Marriot New York Times.
The summit provided a dynamic stage for UN Global Compact participating companies such as Global Attain Advancement to jump-start business action on the new Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015, the Paris Climate Agreement, and the Agenda for Humanity – has made it clear that we have never before been so united as a global community. At the Summit, GAA joined other UN Global Compact participants, leaders from business, Government, the UN and civil society from nearly every corner of the world, to discuss the journey ahead as to turn global goals into local business. With GAA commitment on SDG 7, 8 and 17, we were honored to participate in the UN Global Compact signing ceremony, which symbolize our participation and involvement on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
