Solomon Islands hosting the 11th Pacific arts festival

Solomon Islands will soon host the 11th Pacific arts festival from 1-14 July this year. The events will occur in Honiara for two weeks of festivity. This would be an opportunity for Solomon Islanders to showcase their diverse cultures, traditions and lifestyles to the world. According to Festival of Pacific Arts National Organizing committee (FOPANOC), is confident that preparations are progressing well and should complete on time. The FOPANOC encourages citizens to give helping hand to prepare for this international cultural event. This kind of festivity happens after every four years. The previous festival was held in American Samoa in 2008.

About 3,000 artists and cultural practioners from 27 countries are expected to attend the arts festival events. The 27 participating countries and territories are Australia, New Zealand, Vanuatu, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Papua New Guinea, Niue, Norfolk Islands, Northern Mariana Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, French Polynesia, New Caledonia, Kiribati, American Samoa, Pitcairn Islands, Marshall Islands, Hawaii, Nauru, Guam, Norfolk Islands, Tokelau, Tuvalu, Wallis and Futuna, Palau and the host Solomon Islands. The festival theme for this year was “culture in Harmony with nature.” Meanwhile the country is only three months away from the events.
