Property A stunning refurbished ground floor apartment in an enviable sea-facing location boasting unrivaled sea views set just a few yards from the sea. The present owners have refurbished the property in a light and contemporary style. The accommodation has an open-plan arrangement of living across the full-width of the building with a winter sitting room, full-width sun lounge with tall glass folding and sliding doors to the balcony, leading to the dining area and open-plan kitchen. There is a master bedroom with en-suite shower room, two further bedrooms and a family bath/shower room. Externally, there is a long balcony with glass and stainless steel balustrade facing the beach with a boat store under the balcony and sheltered sunny courtyard area at the rear. Jarrahdale is situated directly on the seafront in Herne Bay. The town centre lies approximately ½ a mile away, with its highstreet shops, bars, restaurants, pier with leisure complex and a selection of water sports. Herne Bay also has a railway station with connection into London, bus services running into neighbouring towns and villages and easy access to the A2 and M2.
The Vendor’s View My grandfather bought the house in the Sixties, as a shared summer holiday house for his children and grandchildren, to tempt everyone back to Herne Bay. What a magical place it was to spend childhood holidays. Racing down to the sea for a swim before breakfast, days spent falling in and out of the water, dinghies, windsurfers and canoes, catching shrimps for supper and being allowed to stay up for midnight swims. As teenagers we thought the best were the wild, windy spring and autumn days, when the waves were big, boisterous and great for jumping or crash-diving through. Then a quick scamper back up the beach to a hot shower and mug of steaming hot chocolate. For our parents what was special about Jarrahdale was its closeness to the sea. After parking the car in Ridgeway Cliff, the moment they arrived at the grassy cliff and the short beach path down to Jarrahdale and the sea, they left Western Esplanade, the cars and the noise of the town behind. On summer evenings as the sun went down, they loved a quiet drink on the balcony and front row view of many a spectacular sunset, all red and gold across the low tide sands. Later at night the sky was dark and sparkled with stars, the sound of the sea, or a late night barefoot stroll on the sand if the tide was out - that was truly "getting away from it all." Jarrahdale made for more relaxed parenting. The adults could give the kids unusual freedom to play on the beach, in the water, or out in boats, knowing they were always in sight, and it was only a few moments run from the kitchen to the water's edge if need arose. The underbalcony boat store is just feet from the beach, making it easy to store boats, equipment and lifejackets securely at night. Jarrahdale has been a fabulous family holiday home, but would also be great for boat-lovers and swimmers who love being in the water, whatever the season.
