SPECIAL ADVERTISING SECTION SPECIAL ADVERTISING SECTION Leading Winterizing Products at the Lowest Prices of the Year Winter is right around the corner and marine dealers already are inquiring about fuel additives for winterizing. They want the best products at the lowest possible price. ValvTect has solved the dealers’ concerns with its refinery proven winterizing products for gasoline and diesel engines at its lowest prices ever for 2013. Widespread use of today’s ethanol-blended gasoline and Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel fuel potentially can harm marine motors. These new fuels need new multifunctional fuel additive technology such as ValvTect Ethanol Gasoline Treatment and BioGuard Plus 6, which provide complete protection for a boat while in winter storage.
Beware of false claims Nessenson added: “Some fuel additives use newfangled chemistry that is not approved by engine manufacturers or gasoline/diesel refiners. Some additive companies claim they rejuvenate bad fuel and/or restore phase-sep-
arated fuel. As Mercury Marine stated, these claims are false and can cause serious engine problems.” He suggested marine dealers should use a product that has passed ASTM and other petroleum industry tests. This will provide assurance that the product will perform properly and do no harm. “Every ValvTect product contains the same chemistry refiners and engine manufacturers approve and use in their own products,” said Nessenson. “This assures consumers ValvTect
products do the job and are compatible with every fuel and every engine.” ValvTect also supplies additives for several refineries and produces private-label additives for some of the world’s largest engine manufacturers. Tests prove ValvTect’s effectiveness To prove ValvTect Ethanol Gasoline Treatment’s effectiveness, independent laboratory tests were conducted. The tests proved ValvTect Ethanol Gasoline Treatment improved the stability of E10 (90 percent gasoline/10 percent ethanol) by 186 percent. It received a perfect “A” rating for totally preventing corrosion and demonstrated the ability to help prevent phase separation, especially during winter storage when fuel cools down. Why new products for winterizing? Ethanol-blended gasoline can contain up to 25 times more water than non-ethanol gasoline, which can cause corrosion and phase-separation in marine engines stored over the winter. It also destabilizes much faster than non-ethanol gasoline. “While a conventional stabilizer can keep ethanol-blended gasoline stable, it doesn’t have a corrosion-inhibitor to prevent corrosion or the chemistry to help keep the ethanol and water from separating from the fuel,” said Jerry Nessenson, ValvTect’s president. “ValvTect Ethanol x Gasoline Treatment contains the petroleum industry’s most advanced technology to prevent corrosion, control moisture and stabilize ethanol blended gasoline.” Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) also contains more water and is less stable than the former higher-sulfur diesel fuel. It is more susceptible to bacteria growth that plugs fuel filters and can cause corrosion. To prevent problems, ULSD needs to be treated with several different additives such as a biocide, moisture dispersant, corrosion inhibitor and a stabilizer.

“BioGuard Plus 6 is the only one of a kind, multifunctional diesel fuel additive that contains a biocide, plus a stabilizer, corrosion inhibitor, moisture dispersant, lubricity improver and cetane improver,” Nessenson said. “It contains all the components needed to winterize Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel fuel in one convenient, low-cost product.” Soundings Trade Only August 2013
