Special Event Rentals at the German Society of Pennsylvania The Auditorium (62’ long x 43’ wide) is well-known in Philadelphia for its excellent acoustics. The room is an ideal setting for dinners, corporate and social events, large birthday parties, and wedding receptions. Depending on your choice of tables, up to 200 can be seated for a sit-down dinner or buffet with space for a dance floor. In theater-style seating, the Auditorium can accommodate 250 (legal capacity). The Horner Library is suitable for meetings, lectures, seminars, ceremonies, and receptions. Seating is for approx. 140 people. Standing room can accommodate 180. The two-story room (62’ x 44’) is lined with galleried book cases and a lecture podium. There are antique wooden tables and chairs available for use. For the preservation of our collections, there is no food or drink permitted in the Library.

The German Society is a nonprofit organization devoted to furthering the understanding of German and German-American contributions to the growth of American history and culture from the past to the present, and into the future.

The Ratskeller is a German old world style bar / dining room, which can comfortably seat 90 people (30’ x 43’). It offers an ambience perfect for wine and beer tastings, as well as smaller, informal gatherings. The room contains a large screen TV and a commercial kitchen / dishwasher. The wet bar (26’ long) has refrigeration units and 8 bar stools and can be used for either beverage or food service. The Directors’ Room is ideal for small gatherings of up to 20 people. The room is in a part of the building, built in the 1830s, that served as a parlor for the family in residence at the time. It is adjacent to and can be rented in conjunction with the Auditorium.

Additional Fees: There is a refundable security/ cleaning deposit charged per event. The amount depends on the number of rooms rented. We offer discounts to Non-forprofit organizations and for the rental of multiple rooms.

There are two other conference rooms that can seat up to 15 people.

Catering While we can recommend several caterers, the Society does not have a list from which you must choose. You are free to use any caterer.

Prices do not include: Catering, security (optional), piano tuning (optional), refundable cleaning deposit.
