Wednesday, March 7th vs. Spokane Chiefs CLUB MILESTONE: The Royals will play their 500th game of their seven-year WHL tenure tonight. Since the club relocated to Vancouver Island, the team has amassed a record of 270-189-21-19 that includes a mark of 147-80-10-10 on home ice. Over the course of the Royals’ history, Victoria has scored a total of 1,732 goals, while allowing 1,603 tallies. RECORD SETTER: With the win over Spokane last night, Royals’ netminder Griffen Outhouse now holds the franchise record for most career victories at 85. The previous record was held by alumnus Coleman Vollrath (2012-16). Outhouse has recorded 85 victories in 147 games played (85-42-10-3), while Vollrath set his record in 165 appearances (84-48-4-6). The product of Likely, BC is also one win away from tying the franchise mark for most wins in a single season (34), which he set himself last year. POWERPLAY POWERHOUSE: Victoria’s powerplay scored in their third straight game last night and the club has gone 6/11=54.5% during that span. Over the club’s last 12 games, the Royals have managed to record a man-advantage mark of 16/50=32.0%. Victoria has scored 82 powerplay goals this season and are one away from tying the franchise record for most in a campaign, which was set by the Chilliwack Bruins in the 2010-11 season when they recorded 83 man-advantage tallies. BACK TO BACK: The Royals’ previous two wins have come in similar fashion. Victoria defeated the Prince George Cougars on Saturday night and the Spokane Chiefs last night, both by a score of 7-3. In each contest the Royals tallied four goals in the third period and had seven different players find the back of the net. BORDER BATTLES: Entering tonight’s game versus the Chiefs, the Royals have seen success against US Division teams as the club holds a record of 10-6-1-0 this season. Victoria has outscored their opponents 7158 over those 17 contests. Matthew Phillips leads the club in scoring against US Division teams as he has registered 30 points (15g-15a) in those games. Phillips has also tallied points in 15 of 17 contests this season versus American teams. HEATING UP: Victoria had a trio of players extend their point streaks in last night’s win. Blueliner Chaz Reddekopp has points in seven straight games and has earned two goals and five assists during that span. Captain Matthew Phillips has six points (1g-5a) in his previous three outings, whereas Noah Gregor has three goals and an assist in the same span. CALIFORNIA CONNECTIONS: The San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings both have a pair of prospects facing each other tonight. San Jose is set to be represented by Victoria’s Noah Gregor (fourth round, 111th overall in 2016) and Spokane’s Jake McGrew (sixth round, 159th overall in 2016), while Los Angeles boasts the Royals’ Chaz Reddekopp (seventh round, 187th overall in 2015) and the Chiefs’ Jaret Anderson-Dolan (second round, 41st overall in 2017). ROSTER BREAKDOWN: The 2017-18 Victoria Royals roster is composed as follows: AGE: 1997 – 3, 1998 – 10, 1999 – 4, 2000 – 5, 2001 – 2 LOCATION: B.C. – 8, Alberta – 8, Saskatchewan – 3, Manitoba – 1, USA – 2, Europe – 2 2017-18 REGULAR SEASON SCHEDULE: Friday, March 9th vs. Prince George Cougars – 7:05 p.m. – SOFMC – Victoria, BC Sunday, March 11th vs. Prince George Cougars – 7:05 p.m. – SOFMC – Victoria, BC Friday, March 16th at Everett Silvertips – 7:35 p.m. – Angel of the Winds Arena – Everett, WA *Saturday, March 17th vs. Everett Silvertips – 7:05 p.m. – SOFMC – Victoria, BC* *End of WHL Regular Season
