Sponsored Walk 2017
Dear Parents SPONSORED WALK - Friday 29th September 2017 Each year we hold a very successful Sponsored Walk to raise money for a range of additional school equipment. In addition to the financial benefits to the school, the event is an extremely valuable experience for students in terms of promoting healthy activity, physical fitness and an appreciation of our local countryside. Our intention this year is to use the money raised from the sponsored walk to support the purchase of further online resources across the curriculum at Key Stages 3 and 4 to enhance learning of the new courses at Key Stage 3 and at GCSE level. The walk will take place on Friday 29th September. As well as seeking your permission to include your child(ren) in the event we are also inviting parents to support the walk by volunteering to act as marshals. If you would like to help in this way, please fill out and return Part B of the attached form. Marshals will be contacted with further information in due course on receipt of the slip below. The walk is a very pleasant 10 miles, almost exclusively routed through woods and along footpaths, starting at Langtree, going through Cold Harbour, Whitchurch Hill, Path Hill, Goring Heath and back to school. It should take approximately 4 hours at a gentle pace including an opportunity for students to enjoy a packed lunch en route. The staff will accompany the students on the walk and the route will be well marked out with plenty of marshals to assist on the way. Please complete the form overleaf and return to the school office as soon as possible. We cannot take any student out on the walk without parental consent, it is vital that this permission slip is returned. The permission form can be downloaded from the parents’ page of the school website and can be completed and returned to [email protected] if this is easier for you. Failure to do so generates an additional workload for the school office and could mean that your son/daughter would not be able to take part in this event. Please encourage your son/daughter to start collecting sponsors in order to support this very enjoyable whole school event. Yours sincerely
