SPONSORSHIP INFORMATION Join us for the Woolly Bacchanal, An Evening of Mammoth Indulgence! Woolly’s Annual Bacchanal brings together Washington DC’s arts, community, and business leaders for a fabulous celebration in support of path-breaking new theatre. Last year’s “Evening of Mammoth Indulgence” was a sold out success, so we are bringing it back at an all-new location. Your support of Woolly Mammoth’s Spring Benefit demonstrates your commitment to the arts and helps bolster the national role we hold in new play development, production, and promotion, while at the same time supporting our local community. Your contribution will go directly towards supporting Woolly’s innovative audience engagement and accessibility programs. About Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company aims to serve all DC area residents that are eager for civic discourse and enthralling theatrical experiences, attracting over 50,000 visits every season. We find and produce new plays by diverse, often emerging writers dealing with provocative subject matter and deploying new approaches to language and style. By supporting Woolly Mammoth’s Spring Benefit, you will join our family of visionary donors who believe the arts must be accessible to all people. The proceeds of the Woolly Bacchanal directly support our community engagement and audience accessibility programs, making it possible for us to welcome all individuals to the theatre, regardless of their ability to pay the full price for a theatre ticket. We pioneered Pay-What-You-Can performances in DC because we believed cost should never be a barrier to attend the theatre. We also offer $15 day-of-show Stampede Seats, special pricing for patrons age 30 and under, educator, military, and artist discounts. The number of patrons making use of these programs continues to grow. Last season 5,878 people used our ticket subsidy programs, which is more than 10% of all attendance. To run these programs, subsidized in part by our generous donors, we sacrifice approximately $150,000 in earned revenue annually. Since our founding in 1980, Woolly Mammoth has pursued the audacious vision that theatre can catalyze essential dialogue at the heart of our democracy. Our mission is “to ignite an explosive engagement between theatre artists and the community by developing, producing, and promoting new plays that explore the edges of theatrical style and human experience, and by implementing new ways to use the artistry of theatre to serve the people of greater Washington, DC.” New plays premiered at Woolly have been produced in more than 200 theatres in nearly every state and over twelve countries. Woolly premieres with successes elsewhere include Craig Wright’s Grace; Sarah Ruhl’s Dead Man’s Cell Phone; Robert O’Hara’s Bootycandy; and Danai Gurira’s Eclipsed which recently closed on Broadway under the same director, Liesl Tommy, who launched the play at Woolly. Eclipsed was nominated for six Tony Awards, and won the 2016 Tony Award for Best Costume Design of a Play. Among Woolly’s honors are 45 Helen Hayes Awards for outstanding theatre production, the Washington Post Award for Outstanding Community Service and two DC Mayor’s Arts Award for Excellence.
