FABRICS: Hunting by Sports Afield for Elizabeth’s Studio LLC 8400 Cream (or 8400 Black) Block Panel—1/2 yard (two rows of blocks) 250 Wheat—5/8 yard Solid Black—3/4 yard 8402 Cream Overall Hunting Scenes—5/8 yard Backing fabric—to fit top 33-1/2” x 39-1/2” Batting—for top 33-1/2” X 39-1/2” CUTTING: From block panel 8400 cream: Cut out (8) blocks, centering hunting motifs and fussy cutting to measure 5-1/2” x 7”. From 250 Wheat: Cut (2) 7” x WOF strips, cut into (8) 5-1/2” x 7” rectangles AND (4) 4-1/2” squares for border cornerstones. Cut (1) strip 1-1/2”x width of fabric, crosscut into (25) 1-1/2” squares. From Black: Cut (7) 1-1/2” x WOF strips, cross cut into (20) 1-1/2” x 7” AND (20) 1-1/2” x 5-1/2” sashing strips. Cut (4) 2-1/2” x WOF strips for binding, set aside. From 8402 Cream Overall Hunting Scenes: Cut (4) 4-1/2” x width of fabric strips for borders, cross cut into (2) 4-1/2” x 25-1/2” AND (2) 4-1/2” x 31-1/2” border strips and set aside. CONSTRUCTION: Following photograph at left, assemble blocks, 5-1/2” and 7” sashing strips, and 1-1/2” squares into rows. Sew rows together to form central panel, arranging the hunting blocks however you like.

NOTE: Be sure to maintain orientation of hunting blocks (dogs and birds right side up) and grass blocks (grass growing up).
BORDERS: Add two 8402 Overall Hunting Scenes 31-1/2” border strips to sides. Attach 4-1/2” 250 Wheat cornerstone squares to ends of the two remaining border strips and sew to the top and bottom.

OPTIONAL: The quilt may be made larger by adding additional blocks, sashing strips and squares. Borders will need to be lengthened.

FINISHING: Layer with batting and backing fabric, quilt as desired. Use 2-1/2” binding strips to complete quilt.
