www.leybournechase.viat.org.uk Sports Day – Wednesday 5th July 2016 We would like to invite you to join us on Wednesday 5th July to the parish council’s grass football pitches, located behind the school, to watch and enjoy our annual sporting activities whilst supporting your children. The activities for Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will commence at 10.30 and will run until approximately 12:00 when you are welcome to join your children to have a picnic lunch together on the school field. The activities for Years 3-5 will take place from 13.30 until approximately 15.00.

After the Key Stage 2 activities finish around 15.00, you will be able to take your child home slightly early if you wish, or if you are unable to attend you can pick them up at the usual time of 3.20 or 4.30 if they attend a club on that day. Uniform: All children are to come into school in their P.E. shorts; trainers or plimsolls and a t-shirt in their house team colour. They may remain in their P.E. kit all day. If you are unable to find a t-shirt in the child’s house colour, we will give the child a coloured sticker to indicate which house team they are in. The house colours aid teachers in recording scores on their classes score sheet. If you are unsure of your child’s house team, it is noted at the end of the letter. There will be a short awards ceremony held at approximately 12pm after the KS1 session and similarly 3pm after the KS2 session. At present, access to the fields is via the route highlighted below. We are in the process of having a gate established in our school fence, however in the result of it not being completed by Wednesday 5th July, we will access the fields by a 10 minute walk through quiet nothrough roads.

We would invite parents to park in the school car park and accompany their child’s class towards the field where sports day will take place. There is a shaded area on the field where we will be encouraging you to sit and if you would like to bring drinks or snacks, please ensure you dispose of your waste using the appropriate bins. Toilets: We have arranged for Portaloos to be available, there will be one set aside for parents and families, and one Portaloo used for the children. Events: There will be a slight variation on events between KS1 and KS2 and there will be a wide range of activities such as dress-up races, relays, bean-bag throw, balancing games and assault courses. P.T.A.: The P.T.A. have kindly organised for colourful benches the children can benefit from using as ‘Friendship’ benches. The P.T.A. have also dedicated time to painting these themselves and these will be grateful addition to our play equipment. The P.T.A. have raised funds through various events such as Ice-lolly Fridays, discos and own-clothes days which have contributed to a very generous fund we have used for playground markings to be painted on our school playground. These will be ‘unveiled’ on the morning of Sports Day – Wednesday 5th July, where parents are invited to come into the playground at drop-off time, 8.15-8.30 and see the markings in situ. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the P.T.A. for their continued support and fundraising that has resulted in these wonderful additions to our school. Kind regards, Julia McCloskey Deputy Headteacher
