Sports Premium Statement 2016/ 2017 At Selwyn, PE & Sport have an important role in supporting our children to learn to develop the important qualities of discipline, resilience, communication, team work and ambition. This we believe will lead to children making better lifestyle choices, improved concentration, attitude and academic achievement. Selwyn has had a long history of competing locally in a range of events and we are committed to ensuring more opportunities for pupils to compete across our federation, inter-school and outer borough. Actions Employing specialist teachers of Physical Education to run clubs and activities; support teachers in delivering high quality PE and sports lessons.

Intended Outcomes 2016/2017 Pupils in all year groups have access to a range of after-school & lunchtime sports and games clubs including cross-country, Early Years- motor skills club, multiskills, basketball, circuit training, football. Pupil attitudes to health and wellbeing improve.

Paying for additional swimming tuition for pupils who are unable to swim 25m by the end of year 6.

All pupils can swim 25m by the end of year 6.

Paying teachers an enhanced allowance to lead improvements in PE and School Sport for all pupils and targeted groups.

More pupils participate in school PE sessions and after-school sports clubs are well attended. Increased number of girls in year 6 and 5 participating in afterschool sports clubs such as football and multi-skills run by a specialist PE teacher. Pupil voice shows improvements in girl’s attitudes towards sports.

The participation rates for pupils with additional needs in competitive sports improve.
