STAGE FLASH Date:

11/11/11

Day:

1

Special Stage:

SS7 Dyfnant 1 (21.34km)

Weather:

Misty and foggy, lifting slightly

Road Conditions: Very muddy and slippy

1. Sébastien Loeb (FRA) / Daniel Elena (MCO) (Citroën DS3 WRC) I found it very tricky because it is foggy in the top so really difficult - I had a few moments also on stage so finally we are here - I am quite happy. Now we have to see what happens with Mikko. 4. Jari-Matti Latvala (FIN) / Mikka Anttila (FIN) (Ford Fiesta RS WRC) Very slippy and difficult, with fog in many places. The first 25kms was very muddy and difficult to get the rhythm. Mikko's rear wheel is not going straight so he has had a possible impact. 3. Mikko Hirvonen (FIN) / Jarmo Lehtinen (FIN) (Ford Fiesta RS WRC) No comment from crew. [The car has lost rear bumper, car sounds rough, radiator damage, rear wheel misaligned from impact]. 6. Mads Østberg (NOR) / Jonas Andersson (SWE) (Ford Fiesta RS WRC) I guess a lot of things are happening. A very hard stage, one big moment so we try to push like all the others. Coming into some of the corners there is just no grip, Horrible conditions with the fog but I actually enjoyed that stage. Nice to make the heart beat sometimes. 11. Petter Solberg (NOR) / Chris Patterson (GBR) (Citroën DS3 WRC) No comment from crew 5. Matthew Wilson (GBR) / Scott Martin (GBR) (Ford Fiesta RS WRC) Very hard in there. Heavy fog at start and we lost a lot of time in there. A couple of places we ran wide but after that it wasn't too bad. Tricky, not easy. 15. Henning Solberg (NOR) / Ilka Minor (AUT) (Ford Fiesta RS WRC) Quite happy, car is working. The time is very good. I am happy with that stage as the grip is getting worse. 8. Kimi Räikkönen (FIN) / Kai Lindström (FIN) (Citroën DS3 WRC) No comment from crew 9. Dennis Kuipers (NLD) / Frederic Miclotte (BEL) (Ford Fiesta RS WRC) Really tough, the grip is changing a lot. We lost 5secs on the last stage with a spin so it's not easy

52. Kris Meeke (GBR) / Paul Nagle (IRL) (MINI John Cooper Works) Car thinks it is overheating but it's not. Looks like a faulty sensor. The engine is going into a safe mode so we can't even touch the throttle 10. Evgeny Novikov (RUS) / Denis Giraudet (FRA) (Ford Fiesta RS WRC) We have something wrong with our set up, feels very difficult. I am always on the limit through the corners but we are always sideways because of no grip. 18. Ott Tänak (EST) / Kuldar Sikk (EST) (Ford Fiesta RS WRC) Not a good feeling, not as good as yesterday - very tricky conditions. 19. Hayden Paddon (NZL) / John Kennard (NZL) (Subaru Impreza R4) Car still too hard, even though it is quite chewed up its not too bad 43. Ken Block (USA) / Alex Gelsomino (USA) (Ford Fiesta RS WRC) Still not happy with the car - wish times were better. Nothing like this in the US! 17. Armindo Araújo (PRT) / Miguel Ramalho (PRT) (MINI John Cooper Works) This car feels too soft so we are going back to Service to change it slightly. 54. Kevin Abbring (NDL) / Lara Vanneste (BEL) (Skoda Fabia S2000) That was lovely! I am still enjoying the stages - too much oversteer in the beginning and I am trying discover which pace is enough to be quick on the stages. We look forward to the next stage. 12. Daniel Oliveira (BRA) / Fernando Mussano (ARG) (MINI John Cooper Works) Very tricky, some places loads of grip. Learning all the time 22. Michal Kosciuszko (POL) / Maciej Szczepaniak (POL) (Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X) I have nothing new to say! It is the same, very slippery. Now it is harder than we expected so we need to be cautious. 21. Patrik Flodin (SWE) / Timo Alanne (FIN) (Subaru Impreza) Very slippy in there, had one massive moment where I didn't have "tighten" in the notes, nearly ended in the ditch 26. Martin Semerad (CZE) / Michal Ernst (CZE) (Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX) It was OK, I'm off the pace and I need to get my confidence in these conditions 39. Benito Guerra (MEX) / Borja Rozada (ESP) (Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X) It was more difficult that I imaginged and it got a bit messy in there 35. Nicolás Fuchs (PER) / Rubén Francisco Garcia (ARG) (Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X) Very hard out there. First time in Wales! 50. Jason Pritchard (GBR) / Dale Furniss (GBR) (Subaru Impreza)

We enjoyed that stage - caught the car in front but had a half spin. Just going to check brakes as they feel spongy 27. Harry Hunt (GBR) / Robbie Durant (GBR) (Citroën DS3 R3T) Pleased to have finished that one! Just want to get to Service now 59. Paulo Nobre (BRA) / Edu Paula (BRA) (MINI John Cooper Works) Quite a lot of fog in there, it affects confidence. My first year with the car 53. Mattias Therman (FIN) / Janne Perälä (FIN) (Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X R4) Lost my tyre on the stage! 108. Egon Kaur (EST) / Erik Lepikson (EST) (Ford Fiesta R2) Very tricky - hit a log with the left front but no damage 65. Davide Catania (ITA) / Fabio Salis (ITA) (Citroën DS3 R3T) Thumbs up! 101. Alastair Fisher (GBR) / Daniel Barritt (GBR) (Ford Fiesta R2) Fog in places made it a bit tricky. 67. Nikita Philippov (RUS) / Sergey Garasimenko (RUS) (Subaru Impreza) Thumbs up 104. Jan Cerny (CZE) / Pavel Kohout (CZE) (Ford Fiesta R2) All ok 102. Jose Suarez (ESP) / Candido Carrera (ESP) (Ford Fiesta R2) The fog slowed me down in places 71. Kit Leigh (GBR) / Tim Leigh (GBR) (Ford Fiesta R2) That was good but it is very slippy in there. I had it up on two wheels at one point and I was very slow. 72. John MacCrone (GBR) / Stuart Loudon (GBR) (Ford Fiesta R2) Took it steady in there, a lot of cars are on the side of the road. We are here to learn and you don't learn on the side of the road. 76. Jack Rowe (GBR) / Alex Lee (GBR) (Ford Fiesta R2) Good, really enjoying it, but it is slippy and foggy in there. A hell of an experience 74. Giuseppe Nucita (ITA) / Andrea Nucita (ITA) (Ford Fiesta R2) All ok 73. Renaud Bronkart (BEL) / Adeline Francasso (BEL) (Toyota Yaris) Too much stones. It is very slippery and muddy as well. The last two stages were good for our car, but not
