No 21 Dear Parent/ guardian PTA News! Easter bingo extravaganza -Thursday 17th March 2016 at St Francis Parish Centre (5pm – 7pm.) Come along for a fun evening! All welcome. Football Tournament On Tuesday 8th March, our boys and girls entered a football tournament at Western Leisure Centre against other local schools. The girls’ team won all their games and went on to the final where they beat Trelai 4-0! The boys also got to the final but lost to St Fagan’s 3-1 to come second. Both teams progress through regional finals against other Cardiff schools at Tal-Y-Bont later this month. Congratulations to both teams! Netball Tournament On Thursday 10th March, Year 5 and 6 pupils played 4 games in the group stages at Western Leisure Centre coming second and progressing through to the semi- final. Unfortunately we lost to Danescourt 6-4 in a very close game! We eventually came third in the tournament scoring the most goals – 37 in total! (Won three and lost two.) Mrs Smith was very proud of the boys and girls for all their hard work, team work and enjoyment! Mother’s Day Fayre Well done to all our pupils who raised £225 at the recent Mother’s Day Fayre. Who will be our Top Dawgs this week? Mary’s Meals We are raising money during Lent in a simple way. We are asking our children to spare their coppers and change and give generously to other children around the World. At the end of Lent, we will total up all the money raised and send it to Mary’s Meals. Collections will be made daily by Year 6 pupils. Facts: Mary’s Meal’s works in 12 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.  Mary’s Meals are focused on one goal – that every child receives a nutritious daily meal in a place of education.  £12.20 is all it costs to feed a child for a whole school year in one of these countries!

Around 59 million of the World’s hungriest children do not attend school. In order to survive, they have to work or beg.

Mary’s Meal’s work is only just beginning. Please support our Lenten charity.
