Our summer term has started with a number of our children continuing their sacramental journey in St Wilfrid’s Parish. Please pray for the remainder of the children as they take their First Communion in the coming weeks. We look forward to seeing all of the children in their finery at our Communion Breakfast and assembly on 15th June at 9:15.

Uniform reminder Can we please maintain the high standards of our school uniform. Our uniform is something the children are very proud of and is regularly complemented by visitors to the school. Can we also remind you that the summer dresses with the uniform should be navy blue gingham only and not light or mid blue. All dresses from September 2016 should be NAVY gingham only. Tailored grey school shorts can be worn as an alternative with the shirt and tie.
Sky Try and Game Changer
SPORTING EXCELLENCE Well done to the budding sports stars at St Michael’s. We are very proud of Kayla from year 6 who won the British Championship in Thai Boxing last week. A possible future Olympian in our midst!
We are working with Widnes Vikings at the school to develop our children’s rugby skills with the Sky Try programme. We are also taking part in a brand new initiative called Game Changer which aims to educate and encourage children to take part in more physical activities. This will be continuing on a Friday for the next few weeks with lots of fun activities for the children.

KS2 Healthy Snacks As St Michael’s are part of Halton Healthy Schools, can you please check what the children are bringing in for snack and avoid unhealthy foods. Fizzy drinks, chocolate and crisps should not be sent in to school. Please provide alternatives such as fruit, crackers, yoghurts etc and help our children to develop healthier eating habits. Through Halton Council we currently offer toast, fruit and milk for KS2 children to purchase at break time. Mr Borelan’s class had a full week last week. Well done on their class assembly on Thursday and thank you to all the parents / carers who attended. On Friday, the class then enjoyed an action packed day at Cronton College at the ‘Road to Rio’ event promoting the Olympic Games. A great time was had by all.
Our garden area is coming on well now and we are looking forward to having this up and running after the holidays in June. There is an area for reflection and collective worship, an outdoor classroom and we will be developing a memorial area in the coming months. Local company Metsa are now kindly helping out with this project in conjunction with Riverside College and we can’t wait to see the final results. Please keep our Year 6 and Year 2 pupils in your prayers as they undertake their national SATS tests.
Our residential trips to London and Crosby Hall are coming up after the holidays for Year 6 and 4 respectively. If you need to check your outstanding balance please contact the school office. Payments should be made in full 2 weeks before the date of the trip. -------------Don’t forget we break up for half term on Friday 27th May at 3pm and return on Monday 13th June. Our additional INSET day has now been planned in for Monday 11th July when the school will be closed to pupils. ----------------SPORTS DAY IS FRIDAY 1ST JULY
