Our Time Here The outside of this house is so pretty and we fell in love with it right away! The distinctive red brick and the wisteria add to the charm of a house full of character. We were aware of how nice the area is and loved the idea of being able to walk into town or to the station in minutes; and to come home and feel like we were outside of the hustle and bustle. We love the sunny dining room, which has double doors opening onto a fabulous garden, including nice big patio where we often have breakfast. We particularly enjoy how much sun the house and garden get. We knew we would like to live in St Stephens but didn't realise how much of a 'village' feel it has. We also like the fact that it's full of history! It's quiet but has lots of amenities. There is a great local pub with really good food, two shops, post office and a dentist, a children's park and lots of open spaces and opportunities for walking. There is a secondary school, nursery and a good primary school. The local church is very picturesque and the village hall often holds different events including a weekly mother and toddler group. The local sports centre includes a swimming pool and is a really convenient 15 minute walk away, as is a large supermarket. There is a regular bus service to Whitstable, Tankerton and Chestfield and the fast service to London operates from Canterbury West just 15 minutes walk away. The local residents organisation is very active in the community. It’s a lovely place to have children but also convenient for commuting and lots to offer for older adults. We will miss the lovely sociable atmosphere of the house. We have particularly enjoyed spending time in the kitchen, sitting around the breakfast island while someone potters about! We are moving for practical family and work related reasons but this home will always hold a very special place in our hearts.
