NEWSLETTER Dear Parents/Carers, Welcome to the final newsletter of this term. As ever it has been an extremely busy period with preparations for the school Christmas productions dominating proceedings for the last couple of weeks. I would like to thank you all for coming along and supporting the various productions and also helping out with all the different props and costumes. Your presence made the occasions even more enjoyable and I would also like to say well done to all the children and thank you to all the staff in preparing the children for the different plays. Return to School th Please note that School & Nursery re-opens on Monday 4 January 2016 after the Christmas break. Our INSET day has th been changed to Friday 8 January 2016 when School & Nursery will both be closed for the day. Christmas Fair Thank you to everyone who came along to support our Christmas Fair. The event was a tremendous success and we managed to raise over £1,500 which will now be doubled thanks to our friends at Barclays who supported the occasion. Your generosity is greatly appreciated and I would like to state that all proceeds are reinvested back into school for the benefit of all the children. Non-Uniform Day in aid of CAFOD Thank you for all your kind donations from the non-uniform day last week. We managed to raise over £144 which has been sent off to CAFOD to support the Refugees Crisis. A special thank you must go to Miss McCrystal and our School Council who organised the event. Year 6 After their fantastic Christmas production our Year 6 children were invited to perform some of the songs at the Kings Church on Thursday. The church was holding a Christmas lunch for some of the elderly in our community with our Year 6 providing some of the entertainment. The children sang beautifully and were a credit to the school, well done everyone!!! Attendance and Punctuality Well done to Year 2 who had the best attendance over the last week while Year 4 had the best punctuality. All children who had 100% attendance over the term received a special postcard in assembly this morning, while as an added bonus the names of all those children were entered into a special draw with the winning person, Prince Kindness Prince Sam, winning £20. This draw will take place at the end of each term for all those children who have 100% attendance over that period of time. Pantomime We have arranged for a production company to come into school on the first Wednesday back after the Christmas holidays, th 6 January, to perform the pantomime Cinderella to the children. It promises to be a fantastic production and always serves a nice way to begin the New Year. Additional Uniform Supplier From January as well as, Monkhouse on College Road Crosby, we will have a second supplier, Prima Donna in Marians Square Netherton, for our school badged uniform. We hope that by having a second supplier this will help parents by giving more choice and convenience.

Bill Esterson MP th We have arranged for our local Member of Parliament, Bill Esterson, to come into school on Friday the 15 January. He will be speaking to our Year 5 and 6 classes about his role and the whole democratic process of being elected. The visit forms part of the schools overall approach in promoting British Values to our children. Reception Intake: September 2016 th The closing date for applications for Reception class for September 2016 is 15 January 2016. If your child is due to start then and you haven’t already applied please contact the school office as soon as we return after the Christmas break. If your child is baptised a copy of the baptism certificate or the completed Faith Form must be passed into school to support your application. If your child was baptised at St William of York Church please hand in your request following Sunday mass at 9.30am and collect it the following week. If you no longer live in the parish please send a letter to church with your child’s details along with a stamped addressed envelope. Free Breakfast Club Our Free Breakfast Club continues to be extremely popular. It runs every morning in the school hall from 7.45, with a cut off time for food of 8.40am and last entrance at 8.45am. This free facility is available to any children in our school so please do come along. Please be aware of the new arrangements for dropping off which means that parents will have to take children round onto the playground with the doors into the school hall being the new entrance point for the Breakfast Club. Parent/Toddler Group Our Parent/Toddler sessions run every Tuesday from 9 till 11 a.m. in the school hall. They are open to anyone with a child of pre-school age and are a great place for children to come and play and for adults to meet up in an informal friendly environment. If you would like any further details about the sessions then please contact the school office. Car Parking Parents are asked not to use the school car park when picking up at the end of the day and instead use the Church car park which Father Harrington kindly makes available. Dogs A reminder to parents that dogs cannot be brought onto the school premises. After School Club The school has a very successful After School Club which is managed by Mrs Routledge. If you would like additional information concerning the club and its out-of-hours provision then please contact Mrs Routledge and her staff at the school.
