Borders and wings: ½ yard – precut 3 strips (1 ¼” x WOF40”) and then 4 squares (10” x 10”) – see page 4 of pattern for cutting diagram Backing 1 7/8 yard – if you want to bring the wings on the sides in, choose a backing fabric with high contrast to the borders fabric that still complement the fabrics on the front. Batting 1 yd of 90” wide batting. Remember that our goal is to have at least one placemat completed in the class ready to quilt. The others can be finished at home very simply. We will make the “kite” blocks and square them, and make a “star” pod in the morning and you will finish the rest at home then we will add the borders and wings and we’ll get at least one put together in the afternoon. Jody will show you how to make these using an inside out pillow method. Students must be comfortable with rotary cutting and their sewing machine to enjoy this class. This is a Fragrance Free Class Many people have allergies to scents. Please be considerate of your classmates and teacher by not using perfumes, scented body lotions and scented hair sprays. We want to make everyone’s class experience the best and appreciate your thoughtfulness and cooperation. Thanks!!! 268 W.
