Stars Team – Blue Jerseys Chuck Flanagan Number 2 Home Town – Georgetown, Texas Served 1967 to 1995 United States Army Age - 67 Chuck met his wife, Elaine Brogden (Captain US Navy) at Fort Meade, Maryland and was married on December 7, 1968. He commanded a National Guard battalion in El Paso, Texas – the same unit his father had belonged to when Chuck was born.

Dennis McLaughlin Number 4 Home Town - Fort Lauderdale, Florida Served 1962 to 1966 United States Air Force Age – 70 After graduating with top honors in aircraft instrumentation, Dennis was assigned overseas. Being station in central Germany provided an 18 year old with unforgettable travel memories to Luxemburg, Belgium, France, The Netherlands, Bavaria and Austria. When he returned from his three year tour he was out of leave, but had seen sights most people only dream of.

Tom Davis Number 6 Home Town – Searsboro, Iowa Served 1968 to 2001 United States Army Age – 69 Tom’s favorite experiences were landing at Seattle, Washington upon his return from Vietnam in 1972 and learning logistics on-the-job during his Vietnam tour.

Billy Hatfield Number 8 Home Town: Indiahoma, Oklahoma Served 1961 to 1964 United States Army Age – 73 In 1963, Billy was on a ship going to Korea and the ship got into a tail end of a typhoon. That big ship looked like a toy in a big lake. People were laughing at people for throwing up and five minutes they were throwing up. It’s amazing how little things looked when engulfed in those waves.

Gary Pinkston 14 Home Town – Chickasha, Oklahoma Served 1970 to 1975 Oklahoma Army National Guard Age – 68 Gary learned to pitch fast pitch softball in college, and played on the Fort Sill training company softball team. His second favorable activity occurred when his battalion was called up and sent to McAlester, Oklahoma, to support the Oklahoma Highway Patrol during the Oklahoma state prison riot. Gary was in the first group of guardsmen to enter the prison rotunda in the main cell block for the purpose of securing the area. The largest prison riot in the history of the state was brought to a successful conclusion.

Dave Snow 17 Home Town – Sedalia, Missouri Served 1962 to 1968 United State Marine Corps Age – 72 Completing boot camp in 1962 at Parris Island, South Carolina, as a formerly skinny 19 year old instilled honor and a great sense of accomplishment in Dave.

Gary Knoepke 19 Home Town - Le Sueur, Minnesota Served 1958 to 1965 United States Army Age – 74 Gary was selected for a temporary duty assignment at Fort Myer, Virginia, to participate in a United States Army Anniversary ceremony with the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard – a sister unit), which is assigned all Army ceremonial and escort activities around our nation’s capital. The Old Guard is made up of the 24 hour Sentinels at the Tomb of the Unknowns, the 3rd’s Color Guard in colonial uniforms, the US Army Drill Team, Caisson Bearers at Arlington National Cemetery, the Fife and Drum Corps and the Home Guard of the President, as well as The United States Army Band. Bill Moore 22 Home Town – Bartlett, Texas Served 1974 to 1975 United States Air Force Age - 64

Shirley Harmes 24 Home Town – Opelousas, Louisiana Served 1978 to 1993 United States Coast Guard Age – 67 Shirley’s favorable experiences were boarding foreign vessels to ensure compliance with Federal regulations and flying throughout southeast Alaska, to inspect oil facilities and commercial fishing vessels.

Danny Ballard 25 Home Town – Mexia, Texas Served 1972 to 1981 United States Air Force Age – 65 While stationed at a remote mobile radar site in Germany, Danny’s USFA unit was the only unit to freeplay against the Army during the annual Return of Forces to Germany Exercises. They had a great time!

Jerry Sorsdal 26 Home Town – Burlington, Washington Served 1960 to 1963 (United States Army Special Operations) Served 1963 to 1964 (United States Marine Corps) Age – 72 Attending and graduating from paratrooper training, and being selected to march in John F. Kennedy’s presidential inauguration parade were memorable experiences for Jerry.

Paul Letourneau 30 Home Town – Springfield, Massachusetts Served 1968 to 1969 United States Army Age – 67 Paul served in the 11th Armored Calvary Regiment in Xuan Loc Vietnam in 1968, including being in Cu Chi and Long Bihn during the Tet Offensive of 1968.

Herb Worley 32 Home Town - Rio Hondo Texas, Served 1969 to 1989 United States Army Age - 66 Herb was a Chief Warrant Officer 3 and retired in Air defense Artillery. He spent 9 years at Fort Bliss and 11 years in Germany working on the Hawk surface to air missile system. After retirement, he spent 22 years in the Middle East as a defense contractor working with UAE military and the Egypt military also on the Hawk missile system.

Stripes Team – Red Jerseys Elaine Brogden 1 Home Town – Chicago, Illinois Served 1967 to 1991 United States Navy Age – 69 Elaine retired as a Captain and enjoyed traveling to other countries, such as Brazil, Peru, Panama, Japan, Korea and England.

Jim Martucci 3 Home Town – Euclid, Ohio Served 1967 to 1989 United States Air Force Age – 67 Jim’s proudest accomplishment was qualifying for Officer Training School and receiving his commission. His most gratifying final assignment was at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. While having started as an enlisted member, he served as an inspiration to his enlisted Training Instructors and Squadrons of what an airman can accomplish in the military.

Gary Dennett 5 Home Town – Augusta, Kansas Served 1958 to 1989 United States Army National Guard Age – 75 Gary had overseas duties in Germany and Vietnam.

Bill Elliot 7 Home Town – Tulsa, Oklahoma Served 1969 to 1975 United States Army Reserve Age – 68 Bill served as a Drill Sergeant.

Paul Black 9 Home Town – New Windsor, Maryland Served 1964 to 1986 United States Army Age – 69 While serving in Vietnam, Paul met and worked with Sergeant Charles Mitchum, who became his mentor. Later on, Paul served at the Pentagon with him, and Charles later lost his life in Vietnam. A civilian said to me, “You know Sergeant Black, you always remind me of Sergeant Mitchum.” Paul knew he had succeeded in emulating a “soldier’s soldier.”

Dave Niegsch (Nix) 10 Home Town: Pittsburg, Kansas United States Navy Served 1968 to 1970 Age - 69 Dave had his college degree but chose to go the enlisted route. He was a Storekeeper aboard the Destroyer USS TURNER JOY DD-951, based out of Long Beach, CA. His tour at sea took him to Japan, Bangkok, and eventually Vietnam. Dave played basketball in college, and continued to play on board his ship at the different ports along the way. He enjoyed his time seeing the world and serving his country. Richard Hill 11 Home Town – Palatine, Illinois United States Army Served 1962 to 1968 Age – 77 Richard developed mathematical or statistical theory for statistical investigations. He served as Main Post Guard and played volleyball winning the Fort Knox Volleyball Championship with a record of 23 wins and 1 loss.

Steve Leopard 13 Home Town – Little Rock, Arkansas United States Army Served 1971 to 1975 Age - 65 When transferred to West Germany, Steve was assigned to a missile unit. He was stationed at the same post as his future wife, who was teaching in American schools. She had originally been assigned to teach in Italy and had her “orders” changed. That was a mere 40 years ago!

Jerry Schaffer 16 Home Town – Kansas City, Missouri United States Air Force Served 1955 to 1957 Age – 82 Jerry served as a Lieutenant at Ardmore Air Force Base in Oklahoma, and played LF for the Ardmore Air Force Baseball Team. He didn't play baseball again for 40 years, but started again at age 63. At age 72, his team won a Senior Baseball National Tournament. Jerry is now 82 and the oldest player in the Sun City Softball League.

Denny Lyons 18 Home Town - Lafayette Indiana United States Air Force Served 1969 to 1972 Age - 64 Denny met his wife in upstate New York while stationed at Griffins Air Force base.

Darrel Sather 21 Home Town – Bottineau, North Dakota United States Army Served 1967 to 1969 Age – 67 Learned how to survive under very difficult circumstances. Learned the value of life and the value each day brings.

Joe Moore 27 Home Town - Georgetown Texas United States Marine Corps Served 1963 to 1967 Age - 69 Leaning back in a 747 climbing fast and high out of Da Nang Airport. Watching 265 pounds of Marine trying to run on snow shoes carrying a half cooked spit of porcupine, while trying to escape from the instructors in Mountain Warfare Training School.

Kenneth Stubert 31 Home Town – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania United States Navy Served 1968 to 1972 Age – 65 Served on the Flagship and received a Presidential Visit by Richard Nixon. Lived in Italy for a year and traveled throughout the Mediterranean as a newlywed.

Weldon Kelley 51 Home Town – Mesquite, Texas United States Navy Served 1963 to 1968 Age – 69 Made good friends.
