Starting the last full week of February! growing closer to God and to each other

Growth Groups are in addition to your current Sunday School or Bible Study. They are not intended to take the place of either. Growth Groups are another opportunity to grow in Christ and in the community. Our first emphasis is: “I Am A Church Member” Cost: $5.00

Pastor’s Pen Preschool ministry is often a forgotten key to reaching new families for Christ. We forget about this key area because the preschoolers often go straight to their rooms and we don’t see them. But I guarantee their parents see this ministry area as vital in choosing a church. Many people give amazing service through the Preschool ministry every week at this church. Find them and say thank you for leading this vital group in learning about Jesus and His love for us. Over the next few months, we will work to strengthen the ministry to our youngest. Some of the changes will include a better, more secure check in procedure, better coordination between the teachers and volunteers, training for both teachers and volunteers and getting resources into the hands of parents strengthening the bond between the parents and the church. These changes arise out of the reality that FBC is not a small church. The reality is our teachers and volunteers probably do not know all of the family situations of children attending here. We need to provide a better system of check in and out to ensure the children attending FBC are secure and love coming to church. Join me in making this area of ministry the best it can be. I Dare You! A young woman was taking an afternoon nap. After she woke up, she told her husband, "I just dreamed that you gave me a pearl necklace for Valentine's day. What do you think it means?" "You'll know tonight," he said. That evening, the man came home with a small package and gave it to his wife. Delighted, she opened it only to find a book entitled "The meaning of dreams." He might ought to think that through, huh? As I said last week, I’m focused on the fruit of the Spirit, Love, to be specific. “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.” I Corinthians 13:1-4

This is such a powerful passage! God’s word is saying that even if we do some of the most impressive things “for God,” they’re not that special if love is not our motive. We can speak in tongues, which was an impressive gift in the early church. We can preach the greatest sermon in the world or have faith to move mountains, or be the most generous church in town and feed the poor or even be a martyr and sacrifice our life for the church, BUT, if we don’t have love in our hearts or if we’re not motivated by love, it’s nothing but noise and nothingness! It goes back to the Great Commandment about loving God with everything we are and loving others as

ourselves. This should guide all we do and say. So what do we do when we don’t feel very loving? Ask Him to give you the love you need right at that moment. Give Him access to your heart, give him some production space in your life and He will produce the love you need to share. Go ahead, I dare you to pray for God to give you the love you need at home, at work, at church, at school, in the neighborhood, at the in-laws, or in traffic.
