Thomas & Betts proudly welcomes the line of nonmetallic Union® Boxes into the Steel City brand of products. Since 1919, the Union Box has carried a proud tradition of quality and is the industry standard in nonmetallic boxes. Union Boxes are available in two basic types, one called phenolic or hard box, and the other is thermoplastic, that is a soft style box. Union Boxes include many of the following distinctive features: • Phenolic boxes feature an exclusive plaster seal, preventing debris from entering into the receptacle holes. Molded threads inside the mounting holes assure good thread after repeated use. Rated for 150°C. •Thermoplastic boxes also feature molded threads that assure high torque and prevent the screw hole from stripping. Knockouts are easily removed, saving time and labor costs. This box style is heat related at 80°C and permissible for use with 90°C insulated conductors. • Union Boxes are designed for fast device mounting, easy cable entry, and easy knockout removal, allowing the electrician to install wiring systems easier and faster. • Bracketed boxes also offered in four styles for "Old Work". Covers and plaster rings complete the rough-in work. •Complies with U.L.514C, File No. E11461 •UL Firewall R9140
