What we do:
Special Services Center provides special education and related services to children with disabilities who attend the Lawton Public School district, under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). We work closely with the “special education family” of LPS, which includes special education teachers, school psychologists, psychometrists, licensed counselors and therapists, occupational and physical therapists, and speech- language pathologists that number around 300. Additional staff supporting students with disabilities include teacher assistants, personal care assistants and bus monitors. We work closely on a daily basis with all school staff that help provide educational services to children with disabilities, including regular education personnel and administrators. We provide and support on-going professional development and training of personnel who provide services to children with disabilities.
