Maritime (N.Y.) took home three of the week-one awards, as the Privateers dominated Maine Maritime 59-13. Thomas Wright (Wantagh, N.Y.) of Maritime (N.Y.) was named Offensive Player of the Week, while teammates Kendal Parker (Evans, Ga.) and Matthew Murphy (Seaford, N.Y) collected Defensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week honors, respectively. Gallaudet University’s Jack Gray (Atherton, Calif.) earned Rookie of the Week for his performance over the weekend. Offensive Player of the Week Thomas Wright – Maritime (N.Y.) (Junior, QB – Wantagh, N.Y.) Wright was near perfect on Saturday in the team's win over Maine Maritime as he was 14-for-16 on his passing attempts for a completion percent of 87.5. He had the third highest passing total in program history with his 214 yards, and also tied the program record for touchdown passes in a game with three. Wright also rushed for 30 yards on four carries and rushed for one touchdown.
Defensive Player of the Week Kendal Parker - Maritime (N.Y.) (Senior, LB - Evans, Ga.) Parker led the Privateers with nine tackles including three tackles for a loss in yardage. Parker also had 2.5 sacks for a loss in 17 yards on the day as his defensive unit held the Maine Maritime Mariners scoreless until late in the third quarter. He also contributed with one pass breakup on the day.
Rookie of the Week Jack Gray – Gallaudet University (Freshman, DB - Atherton, Calif.) Gray had a hand in three turnovers on Saturday night, two of which led to Gallaudet scores. In the first quarter, Gray tackled the ball carrier at the two-yard line, causing a fumble out of the end zone for a touchback. At the end of the game, Gray intercepted a Shenandoah pass in the red zone and returned it nine yards. Gray finished with two forced fumbles, one interception seven tackles, and one pass breakup. Special Teams Player of the Week Matthew Murphy – Maritime (N.Y.) (Senior, K – Seaford, N.Y.) Murphy registered 13 points for the Privateers in Saturday's win over Maine Maritime. The senior was a perfect 9-for-9 on his kicks with a career-best 47-yard field goal as well as a 43-yard field goal to go along with seven extra points. Murphy also added punting responsibilities to his resume this season and had one punt for 42 yards on the afternoon.
