Welcome & Introductions: Steve Orff Steve Orff opened meeting at 7:23, welcomed attendees and thanked everyone for coming.
Adoption of Minutes: Steve Orff Steve presented minutes from June meeting for review. June meeting minutes were taken by Christie Cote. Motion to strike the comment “happy with 4 out of 5 coaches” from June 12, 2014 meeting minutes by Beth Cutler, 2nd Karen Rogers. Motion passed unanimously. Motion to adopt June 12, 2014, 2014 minutes by Karen Rogers,2nd Ricky Adams. Motion passed unanimously.
Treasurers report: Chris Felton Steve Orff Thanked Chris Felton for his service and noted he can’t run for Treasurer again. Chris presented an accounting of debits and credits into NYS account. He noted that we have approximately $16 thousand outstanding in obligations at this point. Motion to adopt Treasurers report by Karen Rogers, 2nd Beth Cutler. Motion passed unanimously.
Fundraising: Karen Pisani Steve noted Karen did a great job. Karen hopes to do the same next year for NYS.
New Business: TVL Recap: Karen Rogers Karen noted that it was a great season for the girls. She discussed how the Twin Valley Meetings we run and indicated that a small percentage of towns appear to have a large influence on the decision making process in the TVL. Karen will research the possibility of playing in the Hockomock League next year. Steve Orff noted that Beth Cutler’s team went 9-1 in the regular season and lost to Marlboro in the Championship game. Steve Orff’s team played well and went 5-5 despite rostering almost entirely 1st year U12 players. U10 A team coached by Bill Casey finished 7-2-1 despite starting 0-2-1 and won their first playoff game. U10 B team had fun! Steve noted that the girls LOVED the bags. He noted that the team looked great traveling. U10B team received frog Togs and they were well-received as well. CT Tourney: Steve Orff Players and Families loved playing in the CT tourney and it was a highlight of the summer season! Beth’s team placed 4th and played very well. Steve team gained invaluable experience playing against stronger teams and all players and parents felt it was a positive experience! Concessions: Steve Orff All employees have been paid. There is some stock left over in stand. Keli asked what to do with it and once that is done, she will close up concession stand for winter. Fall Ball Update: Steve Cote Fall Ball starts on September 6th. We have 3 teams participating in the Bellingham League. Two U12 teams and one U10 team. The schedule is out. Steve noted that we have to register the teams thru ASA again as we did for out spring teams. All rosters for Fall Ball are now due. Equipment: Steve Orff All equipment has been returned except for the summer team equipment which will be used for Fall Ball. Field Maintenance: Bill Casey Bill is working on replacing the field at Memorial Field. He has received some quotes from Turf Tech, and Sport Field Specialists and is looking for others. He is making sure the contractors understand the scope of the work to be completed as he has already received a quote for work to be done that was incorrect. All companies can complete the work this fall.
Bill discussed how the field will be cut in and talked about the grading issues at Memorial. New Storage at Miscoe: Ricky Adams Ricky recommended we formed a list of capital projects in order of importance before we spend money on storage facilities indicating that we may have more pressing needs. Website/Registration Update: Dave Shepherd Dave noted that there are some new features to the website. He will look into the changes to see if it makes sense to move our registration from Eteamz to our website. Dave to update website with current information. Dave to open Registration for Winter Clinics on December 1.
Nipmuc Batting Cage: Bill Casey/ Ricky Adams The net has been removed from the Nipmuc batting cage and is being stored in Bernie Curtis’ house to prevent damage. NYS to dig up and put down stone dust at Nipmuc batting cage. 2015 Board Elections: Steve Orff Steve noted that elections occur at the next meeting. He asked the board members to notify him if they do not plan to run again. Steve also discussed the Miscoe Hill Athletic Meeting that took place this past week. Scott Glassman indicated that he was asking parents to fundraise to purchase a backstop. Steve indicated that NYS has already offered to contribute money towards a back stop and made several attempts to contact Scott looking for quotes to present to the NYS board. The Board decided to allocate money elsewhere as we did not hear back from Scott. Motion to Adjourn at 856 by Karen Rogers. 2nd Dave Shepherd. Motion passed unanimously.
