Our mission at the Miriam B. &

James J. Mulva Library is to enrich the academic endeavors of the St. Norbert College community. To do this, the library:

• supports the mission and core values of SNC. • stewards library resources by building strong collections and caring for them so they are passed on to future generations. • supports the teaching and research needs of the St. Norbert College community and promotes lifelong learning. • provides access to the collections by giving assistance, instruction and outreach to the St. Norbert College community and beyond. • provides a welcoming environment conducive to reflection and learning. • partners with local, regional and national consortia, networks and organizations to promote resource sharing.

Strategic Priorities

1

Collection As libraries work to maintain services that meet the needs of all patrons, a robust collection continues to be key to college competitive advantage. The Mulva Library builds up strong collections that align to the needs of the St. Norbert College community as they relate to the educational mission of the college. Through fiscally responsible purchases and a striving to provide access to a variety of information no matter where it resides, the library maintains a selection of high-quality resources to support the campus community.

Continual Improvement

In a world where information is readily available with the touch of a button, libraries are increasingly crucial to information literacy initiatives. The ability to identify, evaluate and effectively utilize information is a skill set critical to understanding an increasingly complex online world. To help SNC students achieve this, the Mulva Library provides a variety of information literacy resources to the campus community, specifically instructional support for faculty during the academic year.

To keep up with continuously changing trends in libraries and higher education, the Mulva Library regularly self-evaluates to improve its services. By continually gathering feedback from its users, the library can proactively implement innovation and changes in response to emerging trends and behaviors. The library also places high priority on developing the skills of staff members through professional development workshops and classes, and encourages staff to seek out opportunities.
