StreetPrint Quality Guide

StreetPrint is a built in place product in which the quality of the installation can affect the look of the finished product. The following are the most common aspects that affect the initial look of the finished product and an easy way to ensure that the project is in line with Integrated Paving Concepts strict quality requirements.

Stamping Process Full depth print/stamp Straight grout lines Finishing No Double print Coating Process No Overspray No Over-coating

Stamping process

Full Print Depth During the stamping process the wire rope template must be fully imprinted into the hot asphalt until it is flush with the surface. If this does not happen, the pattern will have an inconsistent look. The grout lines must be stamped to full depth before coating is applied otherwise the shallow print area will be further noticeable. If full print depth is not reached, then reheating and restamping must occur before the coating is applied.

Straight Grout lines Since the line of sight is drawn to long, straight runs, it is important t keep the pattern straight. Through proper layout and template placement, grout lines that create the pattern repeats can be kept straight during installation. Straight grout lines affect the appearance of the product and are encouraged to improve product appeal.

Stamping process Finishing The patterned area should be separate and distinguishable from the rest of the asphalt, and the pattern should finish into a curb, structure, border or should be closed with a grout line. Finishing should be done so that the patterns paver like shape replicates the exact shape, or a cut version of that shape. If the pattern is not closed, or properly finished, then reheating and re-stamping/hand tooling should be done before coating is applied.

Double Print Double print is caused from template misalignment or from stamping outside the intended area. Double print jumps out after coating and lowers the aesthetics appeal of StreetPrint. Repairs need to be done before coating.

Coating process

No (Coating) Overspray Overspray is the result of poor preparation. To reduce unsightly and sloppy over spray, it is important that edges and structures are properly masked off. Clean, crisp lines are encouraged for a quality project.

No Over-coating If grout lines are over-coated (filled with coating), then they become unpronounced and will crack. This will potentially make the overall project look patchy and inconsistent as well as reduce build thickness on the surface which may have an impact on performance. To increase the decorative appeal, coating should be broomed out of the grout lines, so it doesn’t accumulate, before it dries.
