STUDENT EMAIL ADDRESS FORM We are proud to offer students access to online instructional applications including G Suite for Education and Microsoft 365. These collaboration tools allow students to work together in a virtual environment and help foster communication, critical thinking, and creativity. Email accounts are required for students to have access to these collaboration tools; therefore, we have created an instructional-based email account for each student in grades 5-12 to work collaboratively on educational projects.

Student Email Account: Student email accounts are set up in the form of [email protected]. The password for the student email account is the same password that a student would use to log in to a school computer. Please ask your student for this information. These email accounts will only be used for internal collaboration between peers and teachers. Students can only send emails to other Goddard teachers and students. Students will be able to receive emails from outside of the district but will not be able to respond. While connected to our district’s network, student emails are filtered, just as internet access at school is filtered, to ensure student safety online. We use the most current filtering technology to block inappropriate content, however technology is ever evolving. Each email sent and received is logged on our server. If a student receives an inappropriate email, he/she should report it to their teacher or principal immediately. Student email accounts will be subject to the district’s acceptable use policy. Students should consider their school email as an extension of the classroom, subject to the same rules of respect and courtesy that we expect in school. Online Instructional Applications: The same student email account and password will be utilized for students to access instructional applications such as Gmail, Google Drive, Google Classroom, On-line Calendars, Office 365 Products, and other collaborative online applications. Each teacher will plan which tools will be utilized and how students will be taught to use these resources appropriately. To learn more about some of the applications students may have access to, please visit https://www.google.com/edu/ and https://www.office.com/. Grades 5-8 Opting-In or Opting-Out of Student Email Account: Permission from parents of students in grades 5-8 is needed before we issue your student an email account. By completing the Opt-In below, you are allowing Goddard Public Schools to issue your student a goddardusd.com email address. If you have concerns about your student having an email account, please contact your student’s principal to discuss alternatives to web-based instructional and collaborative tools. If you do not want Goddard Public Schools to issue your child an email account, please complete the Opt-Out form below. Students will still be provided a network account for electronic document storage, which is important for many classroom assignments and regular classwork, however, the email component of the account will be inactive. Grades 9-12 Student Email Accounts: All students in grades 9-12 will be assigned an email account. Parents are not required to complete an opt-in form. If you have concerns with your high school student having a school email account, please contact your students’ principal. Thank you for support as we work to leverage collaboration tools for 21st century teaching and learning.
