ADOPTION OF AGENDA Moved by McIntyre, seconded by Sharma that the agenda be adopted as amended. Amendments Moved by Saeed, seconded by Ahmad to switch Business Item #4 to Business Item #5.

Vote on Amendment Passes Unanimously Moved by Marlowe, seconded by McIntyre to remove Business Item #2 to SRA meeting 11C.



McIntyre noted it will be a long meeting; therefore there is no urgency in Business Item #2.

ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM THE CHAIR  

The Speaker welcomed the new SRA to 2011-2012. The Speaker discussed procedures and special orders of the day.

Nominations for Positions  Brittani Metlin declined nomination for Vice President (Administration)  Campbell nominated Jeff Wyngaarden for Speaker - accepted  Zuchowski nominated Naheed Yaqubian for Speaker - declined  Wadood nominated Amber Dubois and Katie Ferguson for Vice President (Administration accepted SPECIAL ORDERS OF THE DAY 1.

Set Parameters for Elections

Moved by Koziol, seconded by McIntyre that Standing Rule - Officer Elections be adopted as circulated and attached.    

Koziol noted Section 3.3.4, and reminded the Assembly to speak openly about their employment in closed session, which is a confidential setting. Dhawan stated that during discussion period, the Speaker will ensure professionalism and criticism should not be of a personal nature. McIntyre reminded the SRA to uphold standards. Koziol reminded the Assembly that particular questions can be asked of candidate, who will be invited in to clarify so that the Assembly can avoid making assumptions.

Election of MSU Speaker

Moved by Koziol, seconded by McIntyre that the SRA close nominations for the MSU Speaker 2011-2012. Nominations  Jeff Wyngaarden Vote to Close Nominations

Passes Unanimously 

Naheed Yaqubian summarized the role of the Speaker.

The Assembly moved into Closed Session for Discussion Period. The Assembly returned back to Open Session.

 

Confidence vote was made. The Speaker announced Jeff Wyngaarden was elected as MSU Speaker 2011-2012 through a confidence vote.

Moved by Koziol, seconded by McIntyre that the SRA close nominations for the Vice President (Administration) 2011 – 2012. Nominations  Katie Ferguson  Amber DuBois Vote to Close Nominations In Favour: 29 Opposed: 0 Abstain: 3 Abstain: Bauman, McIntyre, Wright Motion Passes 
