We would like to thank the following: Ronnie McFarland (Farm Bureau), Riverwind Bank, UCA Theatre Program, Simmons First Bank, Dacus Rental, Regions Bank, Centennial Bank, Southern Bank, First Security Bank, Philip Williams, Diane Barrett, and Denise Twisdale.

Dates to Remember • September 4 Labor Day, No School

• September 8 Westside Grandparents Lunch (K) Deener “Tea with Grandparents” (K-3rd) • September 12 Westside Watchdogs Supper • September 22 McRae Grandparents Lunch (1st) • September 29 SHS Homecoming

Students Meet New Friends The beginning of school can be an exciting and sometimes scary time for students as they are starting fresh in a new classroom with a new teacher and new people. McRae Elementary School teacher Lonna Dunavan offered a “Get to Know You” activity on the first day of school, so her students could learn more about their classmates and feel comfortable with their new surroundings.

AJHS Cheer Named Award-Winning Squad Congratulations to the Ahlf Junior High School 7th and 8th grade cheerleaders for receiving the NCA Performance Top Team Award and the NCA Spirit Award at a three—day summer camp in Little Rock. Additionally, four squad members were named “All American Cheerleader.”

Deener Kicks of the Year With Activities for Students and Parents Sidney Deener provided a number of exciting activities to begin the year. During the week of professional development, teachers visited area daycares and offered the students popsicles to prepare for the upcoming year. On the first day of school, Deener set up a “Tears or Cheers” table for parents who dropped off their children on the first day of school.” On September 8th, they will host grandparents of students in grades K-3 for “Tea with Grandparents” beginning at 7:30 A.M.
