LESSON AIM: The aim of this lesson is to experience hope even in the midst of being broken.

B E LO NG in G od ’ s family: _____________________________________________________ CHECK IN: (optional) Let’s briefly share with each other how we’ve been doing this week.

4. Read John 9:35-41. What happened to this man on his first encounter with Jesus? What happened on the second encounter? The Pharisees have sight but are blind, the blind man has natural sight and spiritual sight, what does it all mean (v39)? 5. We are all broken in some way. What responsibility do we have to each other? Read Galatians 6:2. What area of brokenness in your life do you think the power of community could help you overcome? Is relying on community for help easy or hard for you? Why?

BL ES S o th er s : _____________________________________________________ Read Romans 5:8. Despite our brokenness, Christ loved us when we were most unlovable. In a practical way, how can we transfer that concept to the broken around us?

ICEBREAKER: Who is someone you admire who has flourished even though they have a disability? How has their weakness made them stronger?

Having now completed our series “Hope Unleashed” how can we apply this knowledge to our daily life? To our friends and family? What did you learn that can help bring Hope to those you love?

1. Sunday’s message spoke to the brokenness we all experience. How did God speak to you through Sunday’s message?

After learning about the many encounters Jesus had with people, how were you personally impacted by this series? Let’s thank God for the hope He offers to all people who are willing to encounter Him.

2. Read John 9:1-12. The disciples asked if the man’s blindness was due to sin. Do people still think that way? How do you feel about the man being born blind so the power of God can be revealed? Explain how our brokenness is an opportunity to experience God’s power.

PRAYER: What challenge are you facing this week? How can our group pray and support you?

3. Read John 9:13-34. On what grounds did the Pharisees object to the healing of the blind man? How did they display their own blindness through their misplaced intentions (v16,24,29,31)? In the Pharisees zealousness for religion, they missed Jesus. What can we learn from that?
