PREFACE I had been in the teaching industry for ten years now. I decided to write this book as a reminder to myself and a gift to all my students, past and future. I am indeed quite attached to my students, and I try not to limit the relationship only within the confinement of the classroom. Relatively, in terms of life experience, I find that I learn more from them than they learn from me.

Some of them are excellent students, yet they choose to neglect their studies because of superfluous matters. Along the way, I think that all of us tend to forget the One who sends us the difficulties in the first place. It is not meant to undermine us, but to make us stronger so that we learn something from them.

Difficulties are valuable gifts from Allah. Treat it like a battle and always come out proud after a good fight. Thus, I hope that this book will lift your spirits to fight and not let the problems that you face hinder you in any way. One fine day, you are just going to look back and smile about it. Because above all that had happened, you survived!

INTRODUCTION

INTRODUCTION

I was sitting on the bench at the commuter station. The weather was hot and I was sweating profusely. It seems that there was a glitch in the commuter’s timetable and that would mean I have to wait another half an hour for the next commuter.

While I was complaining and grumbling inside my heart, I saw a man walking in front of me. He is deformed from the waist down. That is when it hit me. I have all my limbs intact and, in fact, I have great health.

If I ask the man if he would switch places with me, he will be glad to do so. He will enjoy the feeling of having limbs that can help him move around easily. The only problem I was having then was with the sun, which is an object created by Allah. I decided there and then to stop grumbling.

No matter how much sadness and grief your life is giving you, you are still standing better than others. You have something that money cannot buy. Keep it and treat it like a diamond.

What is life? Life is a bliss, Do whatever you please. The end is so near, Do not waste your tear. When life gives you lemon, You treat it as a lesson, Just handle it wise, You will definitely rise. Nurnazida Nazri

TAKE A MOMENT AND STOP GRUMBLING

TAKE A MOMENT AND STOP GRUMBLING

Whenever you feel that life is not treating you as it should, take a moment and pause. Firstly, think whether this problem can actually lead to your demise? Secondly, is it worth your time and effort to cry over it and thirdly, if you do cry over it, will the problem be solved?

If all your answers are no, it is time for you to stop whining and start focusing on what you are supposed to do, which is solving the problem. There is nothing in this world that is permanent. Everything will fade and so do our problems.

The best thing to do in this situation is to set yourself straight. Self-pity will not get you anywhere. It will only pull you down further. The first action you should take when you are at the bottom of the well is to climb out as soon as possible. Nobody is going to hold your hands and teach you how to overcome all these issues. You must take charge.

Take a deep breath and make a list of all the problems that you are facing right now. You need to prioritize which issue to tackle first and which issue can wait. This will help clear your mind, and once you stop grumbling and whining, you can see things better.

A perfect example for this is our beloved Prophet S.A.W. If he had given up in spreading Islam after all the challenges that he had faced, imagine what would have happened to us? He continued to do what he was supposed to do, and not once did he complain.

What do I do? What do I do? When I am in blue, The feeling of fear, Always feel near. Do I run from it, Do I run to it, Oh please tell me so, I really want to know. Nurnazida Nazri
