Summer Break Shootout Rules

Summer Break Shootout Rules IHSA Rules will apply except for the following: 1. 20 minutes halves: Clock will only stop on timeouts and last two minutes of each half. The clock will run on all other dead ball situations. If a team is leading by more than 20 points in the second half, the clock will run continuously. 2. Time-outs: Two 1-minute time-outs per half. Time-outs do not carryover to second half or overtime 3. Halftime: 3 minutes 4. Overtime: is a 2-minute running clock. Clock only stops in last 30 seconds during normal dead ball situations. Each team gets one timeout in overtime. Any further overtimes are sudden death. 5. Mercy Rule: If a team is ahead by more than 20 points at any point in the 2nd half, the clock will run continuously. 6. Pressing: If a team is ahead by more than 20, they may no longer press. If the lead falls to under 15, they may press again. 7. Scorekeeper/Clock: Each participating team must supply a scorekeeper and/or someone to run the clock. 8. Balls: Teams must provide their own basketballs. Girls’ teams will use a 28.5 size basketball. The referee will use the ball from one of the teams. 9. Sportsmanship: Unsportsmanlike behavior is not tolerated. It is the responsibility of the coaches to teach their players this. Referees have the discretion to sit players during the game or remove them if behavior warrants. 10. Foul language by players, coaches, or spectators will not be tolerated. A technical will be assessed to the offending party. A second offense is removal from the game or venue. Two points for the technical are automatically awarded – they do not need to be shot. 11. Concessions: Outside food and drink are not allowed at any of the facilities providing concessions. This is a rule of the facilities we are using. Please choose to support the concession stands that are available at each venue. 12. Any decision made by a tournament official is final. 13. Doors will open 20-30 minutes before the first game of the day. 14. Admission: $7.00 for adults and $4.00 for children (good for all games that day).
