Summer Intern Job Description Position Summary: The Summer Intern position will be a chance for an individual to learn about Youth and Children’s Ministry with hands on experience. Through this internship the individual will assist the directors of Student Ministries and Children’s Ministries while being challenged to grow in their Spiritual goals, personal goals as well as their ministry goals through while they serve at Brookdale Church. This internship is a full-time position requiring 10 weeks of service between May and August (beginning and ending dates are flexible). Scope of Responsibility:  Summer Interns will work directly with the Director of Student Ministries and/or Children’s Ministries in planning, organizing, coordinating and in some cases leading activities such as: iServe, Day Camp, VBS, Pool Parties, Missions Trips etc.  Summer Interns will assist in making contacts with students, parents of students, and student ministry volunteers in order to build relationships and to relay and follow up on specific events, ministry needs, projects and objectives.  Summer Interns will attend Brookdale Church on Sunday Mornings.  Summer Interns’ time will be split 50/50 with Children and Youth Ministries  Summer interns will help teach Sunday school.  Summer Interns will attend all church staff meetings as well as congregational events.  Summer Interns will meet with the Director of Student Ministries and Children Ministries on a weekly basis  Summer Interns will assist with general responsibilities, such as: activity and event preparation, correspondence, phone contacts, teaching, and planning of future growth.  Summer Interns will assist in a number of other activities as directed by Student Ministries director and or Children’s Ministry director . Qualifications: Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Must be a growing Christian who enjoys working with youth and children. Have developed people skills and able to work effectively with both students and adults. Have completed at least one year of college. Should be open to learning new skill sets that will help them develop in ministry preparation. Be supportive of church policy, polity, pastor and staff, and be able to communicate that support. Show commitment to attending Brookdale Church services and activities. Previous experience with Student Ministry is recommended, but not required.
