Summer Program 2012 Job Description: Summer Office Associate for Volunteer Management (SOAVM) Overview Providence Summerbridge has a dual mission: to create pathways to college for low-income, academically motivated middle school students in Providence Public Schools, and to encourage talented high school and college students to pursue careers in education. Each summer, we hire a Summer Office Associate for Volunteer Management to manage summer volunteer and fellows programs, assist in maintaining program operations and planning special events. Responsibilities: ● Make a full-time commitment to Providence Summerbridge (7:30am-5pm, M-F, and some evenings) from June 19th, 2012 - August 16th, 2012. During that time, attend Office Training, Meals Training, Volunteer H.S. Program Training, Summer Program and Wrap-up Week. ● Manage and evaluate program volunteers ○ Orient and manage program volunteers schedules ○ Organize and oversee volunteer project completion Manage meal distribution and documentation ● ● Assist in the planning of special events by delegating and managing volunteers on specific tasks, including: ○ Family and Alumni Day ○ College Day ○ Pool Day ○ Parent-Teacher Conferences ○ Cluster Events ● Carry out general office tasks, like: copying, faxing, filing, answering phones, etc. ● Complete Office Staff program evaluation ● Attend office meetings regularly and all staff meetings daily. ● Take initiative, be on time and request one-on-one support from Summer Operations Director as needed. Qualifications The ideal candidate for this position is a college student who supports the Providence Summerbridge mission and is interested in non-profit management, volunteer management and/or service-learning. Other qualifications include: • An ability to thrive in a small, fast-paced non-profit environment that values collaboration and Summerbridge Spirit • Excellent writing, organization, and technology skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Apps.
Summer Program 2012 Job Description: Summer Office Associate for Volunteer Management (SOAVM) •Experience setting and enforcing expectations, managing and motivating others. • Prior Summerbridge/Breakthrough experience is welcomed but not required. Supervision / Compensation: The SOAVM will receive a $1,000 stipend, paid on a biweekly basis. The SOAVM reports directly to the Summer Operations Director and works closely with the Summer Office Associate for Program Logistics.
